Young people in general think 30 is old.
Real life example : A 30-something collegue with wife and children was lecturing a 24-years old collegue about love and how women are at their best when they reach and pass 28 years old.
The 24 years old guy reply was : Those women are already expired.
Conclusion:
it's general mentality of immature youngsters, not limitted to k-pop fans. They change their mind usually when they reach that age.
On a possitive side, the older collegue's opinion was quite interesting.
Edit: I forgot to mention that he said these when a collegue (31 years old woman) was near them. It was quite funny and awkward tbh.

Brave Girls Yujeong is going to be 30 and she's as vibrant if not more vibrant than any of the young 4th Gen idols. Brave Girls just had their big break and here's to greater things to come
everytime they make me feel bad, I am not 30 but I ain't muuuch younger than that LOL
to be fair I don't even consider 45+/- old! maybe because of my taste for older men 
but on a more serious note, I used to feel old around kpop fandom but now I think that some part of them are just very young and when we are very young we tend to see things in a... weird way let's say? but that's not an issue it just happens when we are too young I also used to think many things that were just not it

The idol industry is targeted toward teens and pre teens and they make the vast majority of the fandom. But if you see actors plenty of hit dramas for them after enlisting and coming back. Can’t say the same for idols who return. At best they can become soloists or actors and try to transition away from the idol image.

IKR? I wasn't there when it happened. I heard the story from that woman who was there, however she wasn't mad. She explained that she understands that he is still young and it's normal for him to think such things and she was more amused by the collegues who were looking in panic at her after that guy called older women "expired" in her face xD

I think really only young people think that. I remember everyone was calling GD "old" when Dispatch exposed him and Jennie....but he's only 32. You could tell that the people who said that were probably very young and will probably change their mind in their mid-20s or something.
I know alot of people in the entertainment industry were suddenly dropped and not seen as "trendy" once they hit a certain age. Ageism is common around this age too.
This is probably more common with women, look at how everyone was constantly calling Irene "old" but no one bats an eyelid for male idols.

It's old in the kpop world. H.O.T, TVXQ, and SNSD peaked when all the members were in their early 20's.
In the real world, I still get called a kid/baby at 31.
Because the audience is young as well. Kpop idols are marketed as friends/ideal types to primarily young teens so they'd prefer someone closer to their own age.
It's because it's "old" for being in the kpop industry. I mean, if you debut at age 20 you proably will be a bit sick and tired at age 30 and would a "normal life". Also, for girls, at age 30 the time to get a kid if you want children is fast approaching..... So you are not really old at 30, but a bit too old to go on as a member of a kpopgroup.
Lol! 30 is hardly old. I’m 52 and not ancient yet. Perhaps because K pop as well as other endeavours have a limited life span considering when idols would’ve been doing it for probably fifteen years. They’re probably that age too and probably think they’re old at 30. They’re just babies to me.
