In your opinion, does Aespa pave the way for 4th gen to do well?

maybe because before them 4th gen weren't making a big impact. I mean, itzy had hit songs but the 4th gen shift was more noticeable with next level , so it's not not a reach to say they started the trend for other 4th gg now that I think about it. or maybe it's was all about the right timing but this is one of the reasons some people think 4th gen should start much later.

No without Aespa 4th gen girlgroups would still do well. It’s not even like Aespa is by far the most popular 4th gen gg. And aespa’s debut is too close to other 4th gen girlgroups to have paved anything. It’s like saying seventeen paved the way for nct

Actually it felt quite the opposite. They were supposed to monopolize 4gen GG success until the debut of YGNGG, but IVE changed all of that in December 1, 2021. Since then we had a more even distribution of success among IVE, NJ, LF, and ( )-IDLE compared to the era Aespa dominated.

The other 4th gen ggs would be doing well and landing hits with or without aespa and Next Level

People are confusing correlation with causation - yeah Next Level hit big on 2021, but to say that this directly causes people to then stream IVE, LSRFM and NJ is a BIIIIIIIIIIG reach

I don't think it's all due to aespa as much as it is a generational/audience shift but they definitely were the first 4th GG to achieve a certain level of success that could challenge the success of top GGs in previous generations.

I was about to seethe but then i read OP and he's got a point. That i've actually made several times. Next Level was the turning point, when that song ended both BTS and IU in 2021, we all knew that 3rd generation was coming to a close and that 4th gen's time had finally come.

But OP is forgetting what made Next Level possible.

Izone's sacrifice was what was needed to jumpstart the rise of 4th gen. Izone shined so bright that no one else could stand out, it was only when Izone's light was finally extinguished via their disbandment did the rest of 4th gen finally get to shine. Literally days after Izone disbanded, Next Level took the country by storm. The timing was no coincidence. The GP was no longer blinded by the star power of Izone, they could finally focus on the rest of 4th gen and they glommed onto Next Level. A rare display of great taste actually, Next Level is STILL the best song of the past two years.

People can't be serious mentioning Itzy. Itzy used to be the only 4th gen gg doing well besides g idle and even then they were never considered competition to 3rd gen ggs, unlike how is happening now.

aespa didnt pave anything ..4th gen kpop boom would have happened anyway...however you can say that aespa was the first one to take 4th gen to the "next level"..

Sakura and Wooyoung groups were expected to hit big. They being trapped in iZone delayed their ascession to stardom, which materialized in Ive and Les Serafim having hits on their debuts and smash hits on their comebacks

The correct answer is coincidence. Have iZone disbanded 6 months earlier and we would have Ive having contemporaneous hits along with Next Level

Ive debut was bigger than Aespa same for every group that came next (and that came before as well, as we can see by Itzy and even G idle). Eleven was a very fast hit, reaching #6 on Circle chart in the first week of release. The album sold over 260k copies based on nothing other than their names.

Whatever was the narrative you read on forum boards (or rather, you're trying to push) is a very well known fact the Ive debut was highly anticipated. This is what data shows.
