Do vocal position are gravitated towards those who can sing in high notes only? ​And those who usually had lower note are gravitated to become the rapper?

Exactly, I've been saying this since forever. Kpop tracks aren't made for deep vocals at all. They force them to become rappers. I can only remember Sungjae rn apart from V who's my bias. But there are many soloists with deep vocals in the industry.

And who's distributing these positions? Yuqi? sub vocalist? 🙄

Pop music is in general higher pitched. And idols are pop singers.

Everyone should sing in a note they are comfortable with and many groups do do this. It’s not one or the other you can have both lol. They are idol GROUPS that’s why you can do multiple things.

Yeah but there are many pop singers who've deep vocals as well. I think kpop industry just don't want to experiment anything. They find if convinient to turn them into rappers than having to train those vocals. Just get demos and distribute the parts whoever matches the vocal color.

yeah it happens a lot with female idols. For example, Jisoo has a nice lower register but most of them time they make her sing higher notes ( not her forte imo) although her falsettos are nice like in the happiest girl but her deeper voice is much nicer. I like flower it's a nice song but at first I was hoping for her solo to be leaning more towards r&b but I think Koreans prefer female idols that have hight pitched voices more.

I think kpop fans in general think singing high notes is the only thing that can make someone a good vocalist which is wrong

For example Lee HI is a great vocalist but her strength are mid and lower pitch. I remember I commented that somewhere and people acted like I insulted her mom.

For ggs there are only some name that crossing to my mind:

- Gidle Yuqi, sub-vocalist in her group but her vocal in her solo is satisfying

- Moon Byul, she... is both rapper and a vocalist.

There are also Dreamcatcher Dami, but she is mainly a rapper, (even tho she can sing and her solo song is good)

Or Billlie Haram, she naturally had a deep voice, but she sang the high notes more in her grup's songs...

Also please enlighten me for male idols because for a deep voice like that I only remembered skz Felix (and he is a rapper right?)

Higher voices pop more, it's the same with a classical orchestra: melody goes mostly to the violins, oboe or flute because they show the pitch better, although cello and clarinette has certain richness to them and when a truly romantic and nostalgic melody comes they will have it for their smooth, relaxing and deep tones (but you can notice, they are more easily swallowed by the whole orchestra playing so violins and other higher instruments have to take a step back to let them shine). I don't think this is that important but it seems to be an acoustic effect. On another note, we truly overfocuse on the higher regions. And with a pop song we don't have that much instrumentals so lower voices could definetly take the stage. It would even be relaxing to hear deeper tones; that's why I kind of like Dua Lipa songs getting popular, she sing a lot in alto regions. Now I think about it. Yuqi covered Miley's Flowers if I remember correctly? It hit me how good she sounded with that song.

It would be great if your wish came true but many times it's about what the company wants and sees as trendy not what the groups or singers themselves want to or feel comfortable with. They get songs from their company and that's what they can work with or get asked to sing it higher nonethless how deep the vocals were. When I watched survival shows I noted how they do not care for the singers capabilities. They just expect them to do wathever the song requires and shame them if they can't do it without much vocal training. Only a few labels thinks it's important for the idols to have a good vocal training. And then companies let idols debut with hardly any wokring vocals and don't even train them anymore. I am not that surprised that many struggle with it. But I do give respect to the groups singing well.

Since you mentioned him, you can hear this song where he's singing for 3 minutes and 28 seconds.

I was shocked when I heard, cause I NEVER heard him singing like that in SKZ songs, not even b-sides.

I think it differs per company and what they decide.

But I think the vocal position should most of the times be about vocal flexibility?

In the past it was like : vocal color > high notes > technique

now : high notes > vocal color > technique

they of course don't care about technique because 99% of the public can't differentiate 2 singers if they are remotely close technically.

Jisoo is a vocal with low register

higher range means more versatility so i would say thats something thats nice to have as a vocalist

based on what i know i think heejin is one of the only deep voiced vocalists that doesnt force her deep tone when she sings, like you would be surprised to know that she is naturally deep voiced because she really did fool you when you watch the mvs

i know yuqi and jisoo also has deep voice but they are more prominently known for it throughout their career. people are only aware of heejin's deep voice when she talks or when she deliberately deepens her voice in rapping. shes such a versatile vocalist i hope madhaus take real good care of her
