Criteria:

Judging Criteria

• Applies to Albums/Digital Songs released between early-November 2021 and mid-November 2022.
• Albums/Digital Songs that were released towards the deadline of last year's sales count and were thus excluded from last year's nominees will be taken into account for this year's evaluation.
• Count record sales for selecting winners until end November 2022.
• If an artist released more than one album or song, the one with the highest sales record will be considered for division award.
• Albums with same main songs (tracks), same release date, produced and distributed in Korea will be considered as one album. Non-Korean, other language versions of the album will also be included as one album if it meets the criteria mentioned above and will be calculated into the total sale.
• Repackage albums that meet the criteria above will be considered as a separate album and will be evaluated equally as other albums.
• Special Awards and Rookie Artist of the Year applies to all digital singles, mini albums with 6 or less songs, and albums.
• OSTs and project songs made in TV programs are not considered as nominees.

Winner Selection Process

Digital Song/Album of the Year and Division Winners

• Sales (60%) + Expert Evaluation (40%)
• An evaluation group - consisted of industry officials, K-Pop reporters, music program producers, pop culture critics, major distribution officials, with Golden Disc Awards evaluation committee.
• The evaluation committee judges nominee selections, fairness of criteria, relevance of categories, suitability of standards, and more.

Rookie Artist of the Year

• Nominated to individual/team who made debut during the applied period. Same evaluation criteria from above applies.

Special Awards

• Nominated to those who have excelled in leading the trend of any genre of music industry. Separate evaluation criteria may apply.
• Nominated to those who have excelled in leading the trend of any genre of music industry through a review by the Golden Disc Awards evaluation committee.

Popular Vote Awards

• Nominated 100% based on fan votes.

They only list the nominees on these three awards, but there should be an Artist of the Year, Best Group, Best Solo Artist and Best Performance in the "special awards."

When Aespa isn't 😑😑

Digitally the album did better than most of the album nominee with 2 songs from the album charting in the top 10 of melon

And physically it also sold better than most album here

Because of the number of new songs on the album - it's the same reason Ive, NewJeans and TXT aren't nominated. They have to have six songs. Aespa has more than 6 songs, but it looks like they're not counting rereleased tracks and possibly language variants in their total. Looking at the rules, it doesn't seem like digital charting matters for the album of the year award?

GDA never had an Artist of the year award, and it never will, it just focuses on the digital sales for the songs and the physical sales for the albums, with the bonsangs and daesangs.

To be nominated GDA considers and album should have a minimum of new songs. I'm not sure what was the number but I think it was 5 or 6, I guess Aespa's didn't have enough.

GDA had an Artist of the Year award last year.
