I found this compilation on twt and was reminded of how much I love his rap sections
Not only because of his diction and flow (which I personally like a lot), but also his versatile delivery. The verses are always felt. He embodies a character and delivers the exact feeling the song and the lyrics are conveying. It always grabs my attention, even when I'm playing SKZ music in the background while doing something else.
To add to the ones in the tweet, I love these ones too:
(from 00:36 to 00:50)
(1:12 to 1:22)
I also think his verses serve as the perfect ramp for a drop, or chorus, or climax of some sort. I noticed his parts usually come right before the drops or before Jisung or Changbin's rapid fire bars, and thought it's not a coincidence at all. It sets the mood really well and it's always one of my favorite parts of SKZ's songs.
But I also love it when he starts a verse on his own, like he does in My Pace and Hellevator (two of my favorite verses from him).
I don't usually see appreciation for Hyunjin's rapping abilities (it's often about his charisma, dance skills and visuals - and that's understandable), but it deserves to be talked and imo he's one of the most underrated kpop idol rappers, and a huge part of SKZ music identity.
