Why is Oh My Girl underperforming on the chart?

IMO Real Love is nowhere near as catchy as Nonstop, Dolphin and Dun Dun Dance. It's a bit too much on the safe side. Also, their hype from Kingdom has died down and the GP is not anticipating them like they did last year. Anyways, they can definitely bounce back with the right song, although that is easier said than done.

people seem to not like their song as much as the other releases
-
i think DDD's success probably rode off the Nonstop hype & these long hiatsues are killing their hypeall of a sudden when they blew up they started taking these...very long hiatuses. i get that they're focusing on their solo work but not everyone can be like BP & smash after long periods of time with no music
even their album sales are starting to decline real love had worst first day sales than dear omg
i'd say it's because the song is underwhelming too but worse songs have become hits
but i think most people were expecting some kind of summer bop like DDD/Nonstop and when the got....that they said no
it's kinda early though they could turn around and smash with more promo
also not people preaching "nOt eVEry SoNG NeEds tO BeCoME A HiT" in here i know yall type long ass essays in anons about groups performance on the down low
this is why akp is dead

Bc the song is meh

basically terrible management but people keep defending their company somehow

Isn't solo work a reason for hiatuses? As soon as nonstop and dolphin became hits they seem to have started focusing more on solo jobs. One way it's better. Also i do wonder if things got messy once rbw took over WM. Maybe it wasn't well settled. Honestly too long break and then coming back with a bland boring song will make one flop.
-
I like the song, but have to agree about the hiatuses. I always wondered why they started to comeback less when they became popular.
Could be members are tired of idol life, or maybe they need extended breaks between comebacks due to physical ailments. I've read that Jiho has been dealing with chronic injuries. OMG arent spring chickens anymore, even baby Arin is gonna be 23 soon and the oldest will be 28 this year.
The alternative theory is what atropos said...could be something to do with RBW taking over.

its bc they are a older group so they will cmb less often, I don't follow them like that so idk if they are doing promo for this cmb bc before with dolphin/ nonstop they were in a lot of tv shows so maybe they didn't do that this time
also, exactly bc they are old, its that they can't afford to underperform, especially with the situation their company is facing. Rainbow buy their company or have the majority of shares now and the first thing they did was let all their trainees go, if they see omg don't do well or even sell enough they will just get rid of them

I read about Jiho health, but other reasons... Idk, idols usually act like rookies when they get successful. But at the same time OMG is a different case, they aren't Brave Girls out of complete nugudom after years and overwhelmed by all the attention, their songs charted and they were known by kpop fans since before Non stop and Dolphin.
-
love oh my girl but the song is extremely meh i was disappointed rbw trying to screw them over

Jiho has stated the best time is when they aren't coming back lmao
Totally see the physical health avenue

What are yall listening to? Real love is not a bad song.
It's not bad but bland and not really striking in any way. In a way that can be worse than a bad song.
-
They just need to release Drip as their next single & MV. That song is a banger.
-
Expectedly, I ended up liking the song after the initial comeback hype subsided. I realized how Oh My Girl this song is and that chorus is something I'm totally digging. However, I still think that putting this as a title track was an odd move. I wonder if they noticed that with Dun Dun Dance they weren't able to replicate the success of Nonstop + Dolphin and seeing that Dolphin was the song that stuck with the GP more, they decided to promote a chill and easy song as the title track in hopes that with it given the title track treatment, it'll be more successful.
I agree with the other points too. Their hiatus periods were too extended and it's not like they went ham on the solo promos, they dialed down on them + Arin's MC gig ending. For the select few that were still expecting their comeback, hearing Real Love for the first time could've been a moment after expecting a summer dance song and leaving unsatisfied. With weird songs, at least, you actually end up having more replay chances. Whilst fans eventually might warm up to the song, commercially, you don't get as much leeway. I'm pulling for a slow rise or something but

It’s weird to expect every song an act releases be chart topping hits…
i don't most ppl expected them to top charts, especially with tomboy, IU, FMR songs out now, but it's not even a week and they are already close to being out of top 70 on melon, that's really shocking for a gg that even before Nonstop used to do kinda better digitally
-
Real Love should not have been the comeback song
-
Yep, to use RV as example, queendom was around Lowe top 10 to top15 with queendom, if real love was doing like that or even top20 it wouldn't be as bad but they nearly 50 places below that
-
Because let's be honest Real love is so fking boring
at best it sounds like a bside, the type of bside you would listen once and then never coming back listen to it again
WM made the worst choice by giving to OMG such a boring, forgettable sound
when they were know for their cute, very happy summery sound
they went the complete opposite way than what people like about OM
that's why real love is flopping and i knew it would do badly the moment i listen to their highlight medley and saw that real love sounded more like a ballad bside than a title track that you want to replay
-
The song is miles better than the other songs they released too
-
because this is by far their worst single
they need to do a repackage and go back to release bops because Real Love is the most disappointing comeback of 2022 for me.
If you are going to take a long hiatus before a comeback you should know you need a banger to smash because if the song is bland you will totally fail.
RBW messed the girls, I hope they get something way better for the next comeback because the album shows they actually HAVE bangers there
-

This. Just because it doesn't have a punchy chorus doesn't mean it's bad or boring.
I actually find the hook pretty catchy and memorable.
