- Iz-One with "La Vie En Rose" (2018)? Yes they had other hits but this might actually be their biggest one

He had big names like Park Shin Hye and TVXQ's Jaejoong backing him up but his music career would suddenly end the next year. Although he wasn't explicitly named by police, he matched the description of a 24 year old singer surnamed 'Kim' caught with drugs in 2010

Edit: Forgot about HIGH4 (featuring IU) with "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms" (2014). Most people seem to think of this as an IU song though

Well since IU wrote the lyrics, had 50+% of the lines and starred heavily in the MV..
Irrespective of technical accuracy.. People known who gets the primary credit.
Similarly with Leon.
But not with Fiestar -Sea of Moonlight, where her role is limited.

They were never talked about as much ever since... Some trolls/ifans even said secret number were the competition to aespa lol they had good views and voting during debut thanks to indonesian fans but fell hard since then

Ikon also had Love Scenario but I consider them in the list since the amount of talk online and hype around them during debut era couldn't be replicated after.
I couldnt escape winner and ikon mentions when their survival show was airing and they made their debut, everyone was talking about them being the next bigbang and had a very promising fandom, the individual members were everywhere too.
but then other groups started growing faster and even with two big hits, I didn't see hype around them, the competition was too far ahead and even their physical sales seem to have peaked at debut

Think Sunggu was a fellow trainee with IU at some point, she promised to help with his debut and IU has a great reputation of keeping loyalty to her friends and colleagues.
Be it the recent "Mother Nature" for Sketchbook PD.
Even Eight, is as much a favour to History's Jang Yi Jeong, who became BTS producer El Capitxn, as much as it is a smart business and artistic move.
She has many such cases, with Sunwoo JungA, with Sweet Sorrow, though not all became hit songs.
-
As some said, HIGH4,..
Collabing with IU for their first song was more a curse than a blessing in the end

Yes but for ikon, the amount of hype in 2018 was still higher. They literally won two daesangs with LS and social media just went crazy. Not to mention their sales increased as well that year. Similarly with Winner in 2017 and the hype they got that year.

Fiestar is another case, though not as big a hit as NSLOCB.
But curse might be harsh, they could have sunk even without that one hit.
Groups struggle to get exposure, particularly from smaller companies. Air time is actually Air for them.
Association with acts like IU gives that first boost.. But it's not guarantee that it will sustain.
Even today nobody would refuse such an association, hence they make covers, hoping for a favorable comment from her, which can boost their image.
Same with other major acts. Imagine if a BTS member likes someone's song..
But sustaining is a different story.

And the groups producer was Choi gap won, who produced IUs first album lost child and worked on other songs of hers as well.

Yea, i just think it got too big. They never had the underdog story, building up an existing fanbase they could fall back on etc

They are literally not, at least not in SK/Asia. TBZ literally had better digitals last year.

I was talking about personal achievements, not achievements compared to other groups
They improved on spotify, album sales, social media presence etc
I don't really pay much attention to korean digitals so I wouldn't have enough knowledge to comment on that but no 4th gen boy groups are really doing that well. Also runanway, which came after debut, is their biggest song in SK so it would make more sense to say they peaked at Runaway than Crown in South Korea.
But for Asia they improved in Japan which is a major music market
They charted the highest they ever have on Billboard 200 last year and even managed to chart Japanese albums
Their debut was crown and they've slowly risen since then but in my opinion Freeze and 0X1=Lovesong shot them to new heights and they also gained a lot of fans since then, that's why I don't think they peaked at debut.
I'm not a chart expert though, I'm just basing it off of feeling.
MassiveKpopFan you seem to know more about this stuff than me, so maybe I'm wrong

NO BCS I forgot that very very very wasn't their debut because I forgot dream girls existed basically proving your point. I am well aware that dream girls isn't their biggest song lmao I'll edit my post
