Do your friends and family know about your stanning? Do they know the extent?
Are you open about being a kpop stan irl?

Only my daughter and partner know and it was my daughter who made me a fan in the first place. I like to keep it to myself with everyone else as I worry about the reaction of others liking K pop at my age.
-
yeah i got a bts poster on my wall 😆
I took my mom to watch bts movie with me since my friend ditched :mad1:
What did you mom say about the movie?

What did you mom say about the movie?
Namjoon was being philosiphical in some scenes which really touched her heart
Other than that, the whole audience was busy singing bts songs they played in the background and she was just observing everyone
There was that one scene they showed where bts were in the gym and everyone in the audience was like woahhhh and she must have been confused

My mom watches varieties and checks out the new releases while my aunt begrudgingly drives me to concerts while thankfully enjoying the music I play! Most of my friends are stans or those I accidentally converted into stans but the ones who aren't are chill

Family knew but siblings used to take the piss so I never really talked about it with. They have a bit of interest in BTS but that’s about it.
A couple friends knew, or rather accidentally found out, and they too took the piss. So again never talked about it. Some of them ironically became kpop fans a while later (mainly Exo, Shinee and others around 2013 onward). But the thing was they only wanted to talk of their faves and hated everyone else so we never really spoke about kpop in general. A couple became BTS fans but same story, only have eyes fir their faves so no real communication with them either.
So in short no I’m not open at all, I’m either dissed or have no one to talk to lol

Yes my dad even gifted me once a bootleg bts book bc he thought it would give me some new facts about them
what a great dad...but bootleg book? did it also fall off the back of a truck?
-
immediate family yes since my brother also likes kpop
but it ultimately depends on who it is outside of it
-
i dont stick posters in my room bc it'll distract me from studying, but my parents are are and supportive of me being a kpop stan, my friends know too, i dont deliberately tell others that im a kpop stan but i dont try to hide it either
-
nope -- though only a few of my friends know lol

It looked like it was made with paint
And I mean the paint for 1999 Windows...
Edit: and yes I love my family so much and I love my parents so much bc they always put thoughts into their gifts, even into the smallest ones.

ok so you mean like an unofficial book not endorsed by hype or bts???
nice

Yeah exactly

Yes. My family has always known and likes some of the music. I went through a spell where I thought I was “too old for it” but came back to it with a refreshed appreciation and don’t keep it a secret.
I love music and anyone that knows me knows I love music and talking about music. It’s no different than me talking about the latest Jazmine Sullivan or Khalid album. 🤷🏽♀️ I’m known as the Kpop fan at work and have introduced people to new music. I like to think I’ve helped people realize it’s a very wide and diverse genre beyond their preconceptions.
-
Yes, they have known since i got into K-pop. Not embarrassing at all!
-
i told my parents to give me an album and my siblings to buy me the lighstick to xmas.
they think its weird but i allways had my own mind and didnt care and they are used to it.

No, people around me don't even know kpop exists, so it would take too much effort to explain + I'm certain they would hate it. We have a lot of other things to talk about, kpop is not that much a big of a part of my life tbh. When I listen to music I mostly use headphones and the content/entertainment is something I watch to relax, forget about worries a bit, just instead of some other show or something. So I don't feel like I should talk about it a lot.
That's why I'm here for hehe (and before I came here, I just didn't talk about it).

yeah everyone knows and they tease me about it which is so weird like it’s just a music genre lmaooo
i’ve even gotten three people into kpop

Only my family and close friends know about me liking kpop.
Since now I'm in med school, I feel like everyone around me is a nerd and may be judgemental.
-
Sure? I was talking about League of Legends with some dude at the game store a week ago, and mentioned that I'd gotten into it through K/DA, which I found because of (G)I-DLE. He was mostly stoked to talk about Arcane with someone.
It's not, like, something I go around telling people, any more than I'd make a big fuss about liking to knit or whatever.
-
yeah everyone I know knows about it, I never go out of my way to tell anyone but if someone's like how's your day/week or whatever I'll just be honest and say like "it's amazing EXO announced their comeback." Or "it's terrible, Kai's comeback is tomorrow and I can't wait anymore" etc. Plus my lockscreen has been some variant of the EXO logo for idek how many years. I think if one is just confident about this sort of thing then at worst it's just a wacky quirk to people, and other people find it endearing idk.
-
Yes, but I only really tell my close friends and family.
-
Yap since I have posters and albums in my room they know it but I don't talk abt it in school.
-
I won't tell first to adults but I quite like asking kids about their faves lol
My friends and family do know
-
Yeah I'm pretty open about it.
All my work colleagues know I'm into kpop, to the point where one of my secret santa gifts this year was a pack of Blackpink stickers. But I wear most of my hobbies on my sleeve, don't feel much need to hide them at this stage in my life.
My parents got me the Dreamcatcher light stick for my birthday this year, but Mum screwed up the online order and accidentally bought two, so that was cool.

my friends know and most of my friends are also kpop stans so there's that my parents know as well. they bought me a bt21 chooky pillow, a stray kids cup??, nct127 alarm clock, and some headphones with the seventeen logo on it. they don't know who i stan, they think skz are my ults so they bought me some skz posters (back in 2019). they're very sweet hehe
