I can't really tell why they won't get bigger internationally but from my perspective, is just that their music seems like not be what international fans like ? I mean I'm just guessing based on myself and the people i know .

Groups like Itzy, everglow, Gidle , even me not being GG Stan I just listen to them because they're good, but the same won't happen with aespa as much as I try .

Maybe it's just that international fandom has a different taste sometimes ??

they have a solid fanbase which explains their 2m+ album sales

But wit ITZY and blackpink doing the girl crush concepts it will be hard to stand out unless people get oboard with the avatar thing they are doing.

Sm groups in general do relatively better in korea

As someone else pointed out, it have only been a year....

But, honestly, it's not much about them that make the stand out compared to a lot of other girlgroups. Their songs have been pretty average, a bit above average at best. Also, I have not followed the group that close, but maybe the girls feels a bit too similar and that makes it harder get a grasp on the group and who is who. NingNing is the only girl in the group I can name directly when I see them in a foto or MV.

it's still early days and things will develop, they will probably will change concepts and style a lot during the coming years. At the end of the day the need some good hit quality songs.

Sm groups are all more Korea focused, follow then by china then sea

Who cares about international appeal. Aespa’s a Korean girl group first and foremost and they’re KILLING it in Korea. So I could care less if their spotify streams aren’t up to par with groups who can’t even chart top 70 on melon.
