Hasn't this always been the case though? Only a few BGs can chart well while GGs have always dominated digitals. It's been that way since 3rd Gen at least lol.

Anyway 2PM are coming back soon so we might see another BG added to that list. If they can do half as well as SHINee and as well as Highlight, 2nd Gen BGs will officially be bodying 3rd and 4th gen BGs barring BTS and NCT Dream lol

NCT Dream have already gotten theirs imo. It’ll be hard for a BG to have a top 10 hit with the chart reform. That would’ve only been possible in the 2nd Gen.

I wouldnt call NCT dream's success on charts a breakthrough though, they steadily grew their fandom and the peak isnt breakthrough hot worthy..

last time we got a breakthrough hit from bg was probably 2018 with ikon because of their sudden jump in performance after releasing not much chart topping songs (apart from 2015 ofc, debut was amazing)

all other bgs doing good are just expected results nothing surprising tbh..

I want a breakthrough like bboom bboom or rolling or nonstop or even asap.. hope we get something like that from a bg too

GP prefers mostly girlgroups that is well known. For boy groups to chart; they have to release non dance medium tempo songs like love scenario but these type of songs are hard to perform in and fans find them boring; that's why companies prefer high powered performance based songs for boygroups even if they won't chart.

Well SM's lower than sea level promotions and Melon's reform doesn't really help. But I am happy for Exo, they managed to still chart despite the "exols" boycotting and all the other stuff. They probably will get the whole album on the chart and the top 20 when SM starts letting Exo promote.
