Produce 101 Season 2(the show Wanna One is from) on Mnet didn't have that high rating. They peaked at 6.4% Nationwide but Mnet is not one of the national networks (MBC, SBS, KBS, EBS). Mnet is a cable tv network so they will have lower ratings.

I doubt their videos are getting as much views as Wanna One videos got online.

I think It's kinda sad to follow the trajectory of trainees trying to debut and end up eliminated (or thinking they are eliminated). It's indeed painful seeing them suffering because their dreams are being crushed.

I watched Kingdom, but It's a different vibe, because even If there were sad and vunerable moments, in the end of the day if something went wrong, they would have their successful and stabilized careers

He's been doing this for twenty years since 2001 with 99% Project (back when Rain was still a trainee and the leaders of both the Wonder Girls and 2AM were the kids that were auditioning and being trained). Not to mention Superstar Survival in 2006 (which is where Taecyeon, Junho and Chansung of what would eventually become 2PM were first discovered). Plus six seasons of K-pop Star (which discovered, among others, Jamie Park, Lee Hi, Akdong Musician, Bernard Park, Bang Yedam of Treasure, Chaeyeon of IZ*ONE and Chaeryeong of ITZY). Not to mention the formation of the Wonder Girls, 2PM + 2AM, TWICE, Stray Kids, Boy Story and now NiziU were all televised debut selection processes. Plus being a guest judge on WIN (which is where the trainees that would become Winner, iKon, Got7 and Day6 were showcased). Heck, he even televised the selection of JYPE backline staff in Super Intern. There's a reason why SBS can trust him (and PSY) to bring in the ratings. They've been working together for a long time.

Of the Big 3 companies, JYPE is probably the most open and transparent about their processes. You may not necessarily agree with their process or decision-making, but you definitely have a clearer picture of what they're doing and the criteria they judge by compared to the other two more-opaque companies (or even HYBE nowadays). It takes a certain kind of courage (both from a business standpoint, an artistic standpoint, and a personal standpoint) to share your process as openly and transparently as this. That's one of the things I respect JYP (the man) for.

JYP is a really big name in Korea. I was checking the rating of knowing bros the other day and his episode with Rain had the highest rating of the year with over 7% while other episodes were having 3-5% rating. JYP survival shows are really successful these days. The ones with Twice and Stray kids wasn't this big.

I don't think his methods are that good. he turned down so many talented trainees Dean, Hyolyn, Hani, and many others. i also not sure of how his picking trainees based on character(??) works but his recent groups are on point. Itzy and Stray kids have great stage presence. He really did well with Itzy even if I don't like the songs i still watch their dance practice.

You mean he's jealous of the groups but still gave them the rights to their group name. They did that with Got7 and 2AM. Can you name another company that did that?
