Groups whose popularity you don't understand?

I saw Stray Kids and Seventeen performing in multiple end year festivals and award shows and they are amazing on stage

tbh 90% of BGs
i find their music bad, they all sound like each other
and their performance are always cringy to me
they are always trying to make these "i'm such a bad boy sexy, look at how i'm bitting my lips" kind of expression
like to me there's probably 2-3 groups that stand out from all the other groups, but you can make me listen to any other bg songs and i wouldn't be able to guess which songs belongs to who
considering that no BG are trying to create a new identity different from what we are already use to see for the past 20 years in kpop
Can company work hard to give us more dimension to these BG besides being bad boy or teenagers ?

My cousin's kid just did school elections choosing kpop groups as mascots and not a single GG in sight. 12 year old girls don't think GGs are cool around this area only BGs.
Young people are mostly invisible but they're the biggest pushers of fandoms.

SKz and Seventeen are both very popular imo! Espeically SKz I always seeing them trending on twitter!
I can’t think of a popular group that doesn’t feel popular but I feel like Treasure and Txt have lost popularity
both used to have massive fandoms and now I rarely see anyone talk about them anywhere 
more so txt than treasure

I'm really trying to decide whether you're blind or just ignorant. LE SSERAFIM are not my only ults and even if they were, I can name several songs of theirs that trumps any of NJs' "industry-altering" releases. But its a matter of preference so I won't go there.

Hmmm, I can't think of any.
The last top group I stanned was Twice. I just accept that people may like and value things and groups I may not particularly like or value.
Most groups have pretty/handsome members, decent songs, and at least a couple of talented members. I can't think of one group were no one is attractive, all their songs suck, and none of their members are talented in anything. Whether that be singing, dancing, performing, etc.
So, I can always understand why they may appeal to someone. Even if that someone isn't me.

i'm not gonna drop specific names, but i really don't get how 90% of bgs, which i find mediocre at best, get SUCH a fanatic level of following
. like idk i just feel like some young girls just become such easy cash grabs fr 
.also i never understood the hype for the groups who are full of visuals but just mediocre to boring vocals, not much star factor overall, kinda mid songs and bland production but they hit VERY BIG. (most of these grps btw peak pretty fast and do not wistand the test of time

also regarding your post, for what it's worth, my little teen sister who is rather open minded but who doesn't listen to much music or even kpop (except some njz and bp) told me how she liked Felix from Straykids...
i never heard her listen or sing their songs, but she said she find Felix attractive

both used to have massive fandoms and now I rarely see anyone talk about them anywhere more so txt than treasure TXT is still around, the fandom keeps to itself though. They're still selling 2M copies per album and just won on Inkigayo a couple weeks ago for their single "Love Language". It's disheartening to see how many people fell off of keeping up with them after 2023.

Call me a broken record but outside of like 2 songs, I don't get the hype for GDragon at all. I listened to his latest solo album to see if my opinion would change, and it did not. I still find his voice grating and annoying to listen to, especially when he sings. He also needs to stop screaming on stage.
iKON is the group I never understood. They have some decent songs but when i watched them on Kingdom a few years ago, I felt nothing.
