idle is not charting anywhere .. not even top 100 .. what is happening ?

not their worst song but it's up there
-
song isn't that good and I don't know if unleashing a female lookalike of Hyunsuk or Hoshi made sense
I've said it when the concept photos dropped that I hope Soyeon will be wearing a wig on stages
but she ain't, and in addition to that she wears some flashy outfits
and in consequence group ain't looking like a group on stage

I love Good thing
but i saw a lot of people on koreans forum saying they don't like this era cuz it looks tacky because of Soyeon styling
but the feedback in general seems pretty positive
so if the song doesn't do well just because of this i would be surprise
but to be honest IDLE seems to have lost a lot of hype since Super Lady
yes fate did well but it was mostly because of people not being able to accept that Idle would flop after such back to back hits
then Klaxon show a decrease of interest in idle, cuz even if the song ended up entering melon top 5, it was a very very hard climb for the song and not as quick than their previous hit
and now Good thing seems to be the nail in the coffin of a slow decrease that Idle have seen in the past years
+ it seems that a lot of people just didn't seem excited by this comeback
first of all a lot of people didn't seem to like the rebranding of the group
and TBH till this day and after listening to the entire album and watch the whole pre-release promo
i don't see what was the goal of this rebranding
besides removing the (G), this whole rebranding felt useless, and just a cheap way to try to bring excitement
but objectively nothing change between before and after this rebranding

I was thinking more of a G-Dragon look-alike:

What? They don't like the song, because the way Soyeon looks? How dumb is that? And people wonder why no one can take Kpop stans seriously.
Their goal is obvious, I mean, they said it themselves. Their debut album were called: "I AM", and this one is called "WE ARE", and now they took back their original name, that is the goal here, nothing more.
Also, I said this many times, after 7 years or so, every Kpop group will lose some popularity, but if anyone, i-dle can come back and can top the charts with another song, because they don't do the same thing every year like most groups.
-
I haven’t checked out this comeback properly but I’ve seen a lot of people say they’ve stopped supporting them when they dissed their ex member
not sure how true this is.Also the name change I think might have some fans confused when streaming/listening

It's not true at all, only stupid kids on Twitter said this, because they want to trash i-dle.
They said, Soyeon only mentioned Soojin, because she wanted to shade her, but that wasn't her point, like at all. She dissed the haters, not Soojin. Removing the "G" has also nothing to do with Soojin, it's just some delulu fans and haters said that. Only new fans were confused, because anyone who follows i-dle since the beginning knows "i-dle" was their original name.
So many, so called "FANS" tried to boycott i-dle, at least on Twitter, because they thought now that they renewed their contracts Soojin can come back. But the girls said, it's time to move on, and they're absolutely right. They actually gave closure to REAL FANS about Soojin, it's just crazy stans can't handle that. There's nothing wrong with moving on, but that doesn't mean you forget about the past.
People just like to act as if they know Kpop Idols personally and know what they want. We don't even know if Soojin want to come back or Soyeon asked her. Blaming the members for something they can't control is just dumb, and toxic.

mid music

All groups have their day sometime between the 3rd to 5th year in their careers. Even NewJeans would've been seen as stale by next year or 2027, and their popularity would've been nearing half. Hence, I think seven year contracts are stupid, as it ties members to a company who no longer really care for them as they're focused on the next project.
-
Have they already started promotions at music shows?
-
-
I highly doubt this
If good thing can't enter the chart in the upcoming 2 weeks it'll probably be the end for it
Because June is stacked with big names like Aespa, Ive, LSRF, illit + blackpink probably making their comeback in july
If good thing can't rise or gain attention in the next weeks people will move on to new release and i highly doubt Good thing would be able to gain attention and go viral among so many artist making their comeback

I have found this to be true with girl groups, the general fans are always moving on to the latest and greatest of the time. Blackpink seems to be an exception but for the most part fans move on.

That was mainly noise and people were just trying to attack idle imo. I like Soojin but many people just use her to attack the group and mainly Soyeon. The people that are loud about that aren't streaming her music or buying her albums imo. The same fans also aren't buying Idle albums
I don't think the name change affected much. I think they might be at the stage where casual fans might've moved onto new groups but they will still have their dedicated fans. They just sold 1million first week and highest GG 1st of 2025. I think they're at the point where they can't release decisive or mid songs and expect to chart in the top 10. Maybe this is too quick of a reaction but they might be at that point in their careers. The chart doesn't matter too much as long as you're busy and booked imo.

"Good Thing" may not gonna Chart, but they can release one of the B-Sides like they did it with "FATE". Honestly, they should release a Live Clip for "Love Tease" or "Chain", or even "Unstoppable". All of these songs are loved by most people, and more GP friendly, probably.
BTW, looking at the girl groups and how they perform on Charts this year, I'm not sure any of the groups you mentioned (okay, maybe not BP) gonna chart well enough. Le Sserafim and IVE won't have another cb, it's a JP release.
Late May and June cb's: IU, Irene & Seulgi, H2H, Aespa, BP, QWER, ILLIT, Stray Kids, KIOF, ARTMS

They’ve done great especially not coming from a big3 company

ATP There’s not much else to prove as long as the girls are releasing music they enjoy and have the creative freedom to do as they wish

-
That was actually Miyeon's dream from a few years ago. In this kind of Q&A groups sometimes do, i-dle were once asked what were their goals/dreams as a group, and Miyeon said she wanted them to be the last group to stay together. Something along those lines.
It's a little unfortunate that the charts aren't stronger for their first comeback after renewal, but tbf how many girl groups in history entered their 8th year with such force? Almost all of them are done at that point of their career.
Now i-dle are nowhere to be seen in charts but are selling like crazy. Congrats, they achieved the ultimate status: they've become a boy group!
-
I don’t think it’s because idle is older, they were already four years in before their peak really started. If anything they are the exception to the rule when it comes to ggs peaking early
I think the name change might be the reason, along with the song just not clicking as much… going from a top 3 hit to a song that doesn’t even enter melon 100 next cb is unheard of practically.
-
They're actually the second oldest relevant GG still legitimately "active" with regular real fully promoted group comebacks. The only group older than Idle that is still legitimately active as a group is Twice.
Everyone else from before 2018 is officially or defacto disbanded (all 2nd gen groups, Gfriend, OMG, MMM, RV, BP, Izgone
, Loona).Father Time is inevitable.

You doubt on Aespa, BP? they gonna do pretty well. Same goes to ILLIT, they are picking up the momentum again
And LSRF + IVE definitely will have a comeback in 2h2025. Both of them releasing japanese single/album in june/july means they are making room for another KR comeback by year end. Otherwise they could have just postpone the JP release to late Q3

I liked good thing and that's good enough for me
but sometimes a song just isn't everyone's cup of tea and that's ok

Even fans are losing hope.

Man, people acting as if Charts means everything. This obsession with Charts and streaming should end. It literally kills the art of music.

getting shadowbanned by hybe most likely with their reverse payola. they're probably doing it through a proxy company too.
now that they can't payola most of their groups on k streaming services, they are doing reverse payola againt direct competitors. (except those protected by kakao.)
basically, they are (allegedly) paying the streaming services to sabotage their direct competitors.
jisoo, Jennie, idle all fall into this attack. they're probably gonna attack bp too...
even when they can't completely ruin a singer, they try to diminish their success. look at ruby, only like Jennie charted, LOL. makes no sense!
YEAH; sounds insane, but well hybe IS INSANE. go look at their report leaks and their OBSSESSION with their competitors even the nugus!!
also, i have this theory that some japanese lead company or smth (through hybe) are trying to destroy the korean entertaienemnt industry and specially kpop.
(hybe's link to danworld which is a japanese lead cult is extremely shady if anything!)
also i've heard sh*t like destroying rivals market parts like in the gaming industry (mostly through plagiarism, dillution and sh*t). wouldn't be surprised if the same is happening to kpop and even to the k wave all toghether. hence the horrendous year we are going though in kpop in 2025.
the probleme is not that barely any songs are being released or that mid and flop songs are in the top 20 (probably due to payola), the problem is also that actual bangers are being shadowbanned on streaming services!
yes payola and 'reverese payola' is destroying the kpop industry!
also when a kpop song doesn't go viral in korea, it has generally a negative impact on the global charts for most k artists who don't heavily rely on the global market (like Lisa for example). hence kpop taking a major blow this year.
on the other hand, that fraud pig is flexing his payola on Spotify right now while trying to destroy this generation's leader's career altoghether…
they are truly taking the k out of pop really! meaning the korean wave out of the pop market! while releazing atrocious or flop songs by singers nobody but their fandoms care about.
bango and hybe are like a cancer to the music industry!! and specially to kpop!
yes it's tatty

It will always be like that.
I thnk the important questions are. Is the group/act I'm following still able to make music? If the group/act I'm following able to tour and fill seats?
If the answer is yes to both, then great that means the group is healthy.

Exactly! They sold more than 1M albums in 1 week, their Spotify numbers are good, and I'm pretty sure they're topping Charts in China as well. The album is great, who cares about the rest?
If my faves are charting, good, if not, well, shit happens. This is what happens when you don't follow the trends, and you take some risks, and not many groups taking as many risks like i-dle. It's about time for them to flop on Charts. You can't top charts every time. Even Icons like IU, GD and Taeyeon didn't do that with every cb.

they have very underwhelming youtube shorts and performances.

to Good Thing and now I like it more.
Not sure but as for me they misstyled for comeback and while other gg stepped up in shorts, gidle shorts become less funny -

Girl, ur here trying everything just to defend this group at all cost hahaha
It's June 11, they r not even on Melon 100th.
Let's face it, shall we?I-dle made a lot of noise about their rebrand and sh#t, but no one cares!
No one cares about them anymore!Sold some albuns because they have like 15 kr fans that bought every single one they could.
They FLOPPED so hard even my belly hurts.
Everyone in Korea grew tired of them! -

that just proves even more how some top acts have been charting in korea... and on melon specially.
like all metric are good except the k streaming one?? for idle? like riiight
.reminds me of both jennie pre release drops and also of jisoo... strangely floping on k streaming apps...
no if bango if out of the picture, hybe is weakened and they release a better banger, i don't doubt they could enter the charts again... i truly feel like idle never dies. like they're not eternal, but im pretty sure they still have some years ahead. at last up until their 10th year.
