Has the 5th Generation impressed you yet?

I mean honestly 4th Gen only started to impress me after around next level becoming a hit and new jeans and IVE debuting so like post 2021 and that’s like the 4th year of 4th Gen.

I would say we have a good couple of years before this gen starts doing anything impressive.

H2h debut did nothing for me nor did KK sadly. Maybe their next comebacks will be more entertaining/display their full potentials more.

Yes. I enjoyed Meovv, kiof, illit (magnetic...), Baemon and for now I'm enjoying kiii kiii.

It's too early to say - the best 5th gen is BM, but I'm not necessarily impressed quite yet. I think they have so much potential that I'm just waiting for them to have that moment.

Besides that, the rest are okay but not my cup of tea.

I think if certain groups didn't debut with a big company, they wouldn't be popular.

Also, KIOF is 5th gen? I feel like they're 4th gen/in between gen.

The only groups in that list I've noticed or even had the smallest bit of interest in is Kiss of Life because of their sound and RIIZE because of Shotaro and Sungchan, but otherwise, there seems to be nothing I enjoy from 5th gen so far.

Generations in Kpop, as with many things in Kpop is 'fuzzy', there is no quantifiable definition and it is all popular perception.
Every debut, gets a chatter of a new generation or 0.5 generation being born. But give it a few months, then we know how relevant such claims are.

It is only in retrospect can we actually judge the start of any generation.

And that start is always has been with a significant group making music and records, which are different from the prevailing trends.

drip was a good improvement from their past releases, so maybe they will get there .

I haven't even heard of all those groups, and some I only know the name (prob from here..). The ones I've heard a song(s) from didn't leave big impressions. I guess that sums my up my interest-level lol.

But I love Kiss Of Life's Igloo. Banger. Clicked on two other songs by them and it gave me nothing tho.

BabyMonster definitely seems to be the most popular in general so far, and some of their numbers are surprisingly strong though. I did like their recent song too so I guess I see the potential

well I don't agree but coming from you, this is actually bordering on being a compliment

The thing I disagree with most is people calling their music BP ripoffs (Sheesh and Batter Up maybe) when it's actually just the YG sound rip off, not BP specifically. And obviously BM is a more vocal group than BP and their songs cater to that, so I actually do think they have an identity in their music, BP girls ain't getting high notes like Ahyeon and Rami.

Yes and no! In terms of music yes! In terms of achievements no! Overall yes but I understand if people say no

5th gen overall still feels weird saying aloud. It felt rushed and sprung upon us unlike 3rd to 4th gen transition if that makes sense

I wouldn't say I'm impressed, but if you look beyond the mainstream madness, it's not that bad.

KIOF and Young Posse hard carrying the 5th gen, and now we could say, Babymon is catching up. To be fair, I don't really care, because most of them are underage kids.

Let's see what's gonna happen with WiTCHX, they're obviously one, if not the most talented group, but their company is hibernating or something. They said, full-album coming out in February, but still no news.

You do realize NJZ will debut in the 5th gen, right?

its going to be interesting the first 1-3 years, after that the standouts will start to widen gaps.

babymonster seems to be ahead judging from already the crowd they can pull in touring and streams

i see meovv and babymonster to be the leaders

I think the other thing that is making 5th gen unimpressive for me (and this is solely Girl Groups) is that, with the exception of KioF, 5th Gen is infested with babies.

All the groups are packed with 13-17 year old members, and the groups all feel "kiddy", with concepts and themes that mostly match the members ages but also don't interest me in the slightest. I don't care for "youth" concepts.

I feel like you could tell which group was 3rd gen and which was 4th but with 5th gen they all still feel like 4th gen groups not just because they’re closer in age but I think we just had less years in spent with 4th gen groups
