    II. Career

    III. 2020: NCT

Sungchan was born in Seoul, South Korea on Sept. 13, 2001. He was cast on the street twice by SM scout, however, he felt his skills were lacking the first time. After training at a dance academy, he was scouted again and decided to try the audition in 2016. He was cast and trained for several years with other NCT members, including Kun, Jungwoo, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery and YangYang. He was introduced as the newest member in NCT on September 21, 2020, although he does not have a permanent unit yet. He made his first appearance in NCT on October 12, 2020 as part of NCT's rotating combination unit, NCT U. NCT U utilizes different members to match the song and its accompanying performance, as well as serving to debut new NCT members.

Sungchan participated in the NCT 2020 project in October 2020, featuring all NCT members, and debuting two new ones. This project also included a 2-part NCT full album, NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1 and NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 2. He appears as a rapper on "Misfit," "Light Bulb," "90s Love," as well as singing and rapping on "All About You." He also appears in the combination single "Resonance," which combines multiple songs. The entire project also appeared on NCT World 2.0, a competition-focused show.

Sungchan was introduced on February 18, 2021, as one of three new hosts for the weekly music show Inkigayo. He debuted as MC on March 7, 2021.

Sungchan participated in the NCT 2021 project in December 2021, featuring all active NCT members at the time. This project also included a NCT full album, NCT 2021 Universe. He appears as a part of NCT U combination units on 2 songs: as a singer on "Round&Round" and a rapper on "Know Now." He also features in the all-unit song "Beautiful." As part of NCT 2021 promotions, he also appeared in a special short digital series EuMARKJUNGsim, co-hosted by NCT group mates Mark and Jungwoo, and NCT 2021 YearDream, around the group's lore. He also appeared on an episode of It's Awkward But It's OK, a show around members from different units being unfamiliar with each other, as part of the promotions.
