I. Introduction

Wong Yukhei (Chinese: 黄旭熙), known professionally as Lucas (Hangul: 루카스) , is a Chinese-Thai dancer and rapper. He was formerly a member of NCT and the sub-unit WayV. He is also the lead rapper in the SM supergroup SuperM, which combines members from SHINee, EXO, NCT 127 and WayV.

II. 2017-18: SM Rookies and NCT

Lucas was born in Hong Kong on January 25, 1999 to a Chinese father and Thai mother. He originally auditioned as a model, but was cast in an SM Global Audition in Hong Kong in 2015. He was introduced as an SM Rookie on April 5, 2017 and began appearing with other members of the pre-debut SM Rookies team in live performances and variety shows.

He appeared in fellow WayV member Ten's "Dream A Dream" video in 2017 and made his debut with NCT during the NCT Empathy project on March 14, 2018, featuring all NCT members, and debuting three new ones. This project also included the first NCT full album, NCT 2018 Empathy. He appears as part of the NCT unit as a rapper on "Boss" and "Yestoday" and as one of the featured rappers in "Black on Black." NCT U utilizes different members to match the song and its accompanying performance, as well as serving to debut new NCT members.

Lucas appeared on a number of reality series, including NCT Life: Hot and Young Seoul Trip - touring Seoul along with other foreign-born NCT members, including Johnny (USA), Yuta (Japan), Winwin (China), Kun (China) and Mark (Canada). He also appeared on Korean variety shows, including Real Man 300 and Law of the Jungle.

SM announced plans to launch an NCT China unit on August 13, 2018. The formation of the group was finalized and announced on December 31, under a new China-exclusive label. Due to the political tensions between China and South Korea at the time, the group was not promoted as an NCT sub unit.

Lucas was featured on Taeyeon's song "All Night Long," as well as featuring on a single for the digital project SM Station "Coffee Break" in 2018.

III. 2019: WayV debut and SuperM

Lucas debuted in the permanent Chinese sub unit WayV on January 17, 2019 with the EP The Vision. He remains a charismatic and engaging center during the group's dance formations. WayV has a sleeker, sexier sound and style than the other sub units, as well as a more fluid style of dance.

WayV released a second EP on May 9, 2019, Take Off.

SM Entertainment and Capitol Music Group announced a "K-pop supergroup" formed of members of popular SM boy groups. Described as "the Avengers of K-pop," the group included SHINee's Taemin, EXO's Kai and Baekhyun, NCT 127's Taeyong, NCT 127 and NCT Dream's Mark, and WayV's Ten and Lucas. As a heavily dance-focused group featuring members recognized as some of the top dancers in k-pop, Lucas is a lead rapper and visual.

The group's promotional activity was heavily focused outside of Korea, notably in the United States. However, the group debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard charts on October 4 with its first EP SuperM.

WayV also released another EP, Take Over the Moon.

Lucas also became a popular guest on variety shows, including Law of the Jungle, Real Men and Keep Running.

IV. 2020: WayV and SuperM albums, TV and promotional appearances

SuperM began touring through North America, Latin America and Europe through February 2020, before being halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It also premiered the first online-dedicated live concert on Vlive on April 26, 2020.

Lucas was announced as the global ambassador for China for fashion house Burberry.

In March 2020, a repackage was released, Take Over the Moon the Sequel. WayV released its first full album Awaken the World on June 9, 2020, following its online live concert on Vlive. It also appeared in its own reality show, WayVision.

Lucas participated in SuperM's reality show Mtopia with other SuperM members in the build-up to the release of their first album. SuperM's full album, Super One, was released in September 25, 2020, debuting at #2 on the U.S. Billboard charts. Additionally, SuperM participated in multiple live online events.

Lucas participated in the NCT 2020 project in October 2020, featuring all NCT members, and debuting two new ones. This project also included a 2-part NCT full album, NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1 and NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 2. He appears as a rapper on WayV's song "Nectar," as well as a part of NCT U combination units on 3 songs: "90s Love," "Work It" and "Faded in My Last Song." He also features in the combination single "Resonance," which combines multiple songs. He also moves to center as part of the dance formation at points in the choreography. The entire project also appeared on NCT World 2.0, a competition-focused show.

V. 2021: Kick Back and hiatus

WayV released its third EP, Kick Back, on March 11, 2021, while simultaneously airing the second season of its reality show WayVision 2: Winter Sports Channel. During Kick Back promotions, Lucas and group mate Winwin returned to China for promotions and TV appearances, while the rest of the group continued to promote on Korean music shows and interviews. In addition to promotional work for Guerlain, he also returned to the TV show Keep Running. In June, WayV released its first OST song, "Everytime", for the Running to You Soundtrack.

On August 20, a third WayV sub-unit was announced, WayV Lucas & Hendery, who would release a digital single "Jalapeño" on August 25. The single and its promotions were postponed as SM announced Lucas would take a hiatus from the group and solo activities.

Due to his hiatus, Lucas is one of two NCT members that did not appear on the NCT 2021 project. He also did not appear on the SMTOWN Winter 2021 album or concert nor the return to live SMTOWN concerts and WayV's first appearances there.

VI. 2023: Solo Activities

After a nearly two year hiatus, SM announced on May 10, 2023 that Lucas would no longer be a member of NCT or WayV and would focus on solo activities, by mutual agreement.

- He was part of WayV’s Cantonese line of native Cantonese speakers, along with Xiaojun and Hendery. He is also is very fluent in Mandarin and Thai, as well as speaking some Korean and English.

- As a trainee, Lucas really wanted to join NCT Dream and practiced the routine to "Chewing Gum."

- Lucas is known for his positive attitude and infectious and fun personality.

- His fans are called Lumis.

- Winwin requested the other members dress up for his birthday. Lucas is Elsa in WayV's Princess performance to their song "Bad Alive" for the web series WINformation.

- SM released a video using the audio from NCT's MAMA performance that captures the journey of the members through their career.

- NCT members have participated in a NCT 24-Hour Relay Cam that gives a snapshot of their daily lives.
