I'm different! I'm a long-time K-Pop fan who throughout my stanhood primarily have only stanned empowering girl-crush-concept girl groups and used to hate boy groups with a passion bc of all the sexist slut-shaming & double standards their stans used to engage in against girl groups
(tho slowly changing my prejudice against them recently since slut-shaming has slowed down a lot against them over the past 10 years and being more exposed in the past year or so to really talented bgs w/amazing music such as Highlight/B2ST, 2PM, and recently a little ATEEZ [for them music not sm tho...tho I do like Halazia]).I only stan a few ones I considered exceptionally talented at live performing with amazing music such as Infinite or TXT (Stan Infinite Stan Talent) and/or exceptionally talented at songwriting and/or that stand out with a particularly deep and empowering concept such as BTS and B.A.P way back in the day.
I don't usually just stan boy groups just cuz they're handsome cuz they're pretty much all handsome (for the most part...🧐) and I'd just end up stanning everybody (like a lot of bg stans who end up stanning Over 9000 of them just cuz they're hot and male). 🤷🏻♀️ (Granted, lots of gg stans do the same, too 😝😅)

Well tbh, everyone in Kpop claims their bias has talent, good looks, and good music, but 4th gen bgs nowadays are known for their "noise music" sound, and 4th gen groups in general are not known for singing live, either, so it kinda seems like most stans nowadays are mostly in it for the visuals and maybe the dances? Whether you agree with their general reputation is up to you, but it's a fact that that's what they're known for. Until more of them start singing live again and coming out with more radio-friendly music, my opinions will probably stay the same, haha.
Tho I think a few new boy bands are coming out w/public-friendly songs like RIIZE. 🙂
I liked their song Memories and this one performance video by them, it's very refreshing with polished clean synchronized dancing and expressions that's pretty rare nowadays:

I liked VIXX back in the day. Concept kings! Visual kings! Talent kings!
Seventeen are energetic performers who put 100% into every performance and have catchy songs and some more meaningful music as well. Plus Woozi & Hoshi help with music production and designing the choreography. I just think they could have stronger stage presence, vocals are not bad but not top-tier either, and their looks are imo a little plain besides one guy in BSS (dk his name tho sry) but overall they're alright. Plus I watched an episode of Going Seventeen that was pretty funny. Those guys were really giving it their all to be entertaining.
I really like Pentagon's famous song Shine and their b-side song called Shower of Rain was amazing. Shine's MV had very messy dancing tho & Shower of Rain live performance was just ok and disappointing compared to the beautiful song.
Monsta X's Jooheon is a pretty talented rapper. Beyond that, noise music.
Too many other boy groups for me to check them all out w/o some kind of song recommendation or hope of them succeeding in this insanely oversaturated Kpop market these days, tho. 😅
New boy groups have very few concepts: it's either dark/sexy & messy noise music, or a very small percentage of them is cute.
Girl group members are much easier to tell apart from each other as long as they have different hair colors, and the ones that can sing can usually sing much better than the boy groups. Nowadays girl crush groups have way more swag than the boy groups do.
