17 of the top 20 on the Melon daily chart are idols/idol groups.
Only 6 artists have reached number one this year and 5 of those are gg's (NJ, Ive, LSF, Aespa, G-idle).
OSTs, that used to consistently do well? Nowhere to be seen anymore.
Soloists? Unless IU and Taeyeon are releasing which has become less frequent as time goes on, also not much. Younha had a viral moment last year but otherwise nothing really. Artists like Heize and Baek Yerin are no longer getting any hits.
Other acts like:
AKMU - release less and less
Bol4 - since one member left have not had the same impact, used to be absolutely dominant for a few years
Melomance, Paul Kim, Ben, MC the Max, Jang Beom-june, etc etc. The RnB and hip-hop scene isn't making much noise at all. Zico hasn't done as well post his enlistment, Dean is nowhere to be found.
Either the 4th gen girl groups are next level popular versus other gens over the years, or there's a big lull in non-kpop genres in SK outside of trot which has taken off in popularity since the Mr.Trot show. But there doesn't feel like there'll be much overlap between trot and hip-hop/RnB/OSTs
