They were. I guess the two got tired of waiting. I would too if I had only been in like 2 NCT songs and no unit despite being in NCT since 2020.
Now SM is claiming that they want to do something wild and crazy and put more Japanese people in Tokyo?!?!? So SungTaro are being replaced by more Japanese people (even though Shotaro is Japanese...)
Could they not find other people? I thought smnbg was gonna be new faces

they were obviously not put Sungchan, eunseok etc... in NCT japan
and Fans love Sungtaro together
separate sungchan and shotaro would have make even less sense

Shotaro has the most viewed Nct fancam and he trended when he was in a single (I remember seeing his name in Twitter trends a lot when I didn't even know he was a nct member). Saddly, without content for year we don't have nothing to talk about him.

Three members will have the ages of 20, 22 and 22 respectively by the end of the year
With current enlistment laws I'm fully expecting those with 22 have to be gone before even the usual contract ends 
SM is clearly going to short-term hype (despertely trying to move NCT fandom into stan this new group) instead of long term prospects
This still Lee So Man ideia male idols are replaceable and must be part of a franchise to share fandoms and sell album fast
This SMNBG will likely be replaced by another one in 3 to 4 years with only new trainees. They are very obvious stopgags because SM must be suffering with lack of trainees ready to debut

The appealing prospect of stanning a SM group was their longitivity, if they are gonna put them on chopping blocks every 4 to 5 years then.......

Remember Lee so Man wanted NCT to keep going on, this group was his dream because he has sort of fetish with jpop idols systems
This group is very obviously debuting due to shareholders pressure, because NCT 127 will soon start enlistment phase and SM has nothing to replace them. But this new Boygroup would otherwise be just another NCT Unit
I'm also expecting them to fully inherits all NCT songs, stylish and concepts. This will be a new NCT, except in the name

same i love shotaro and sungchan and the SM rookies, so it was a bummer for me to think that some will debut in japan and i'll not keep up with their activities
but now i'm more interested in the group cuz i like eunseok, seunghan and sungtaro
i'm just a little bit sad that they just threw away shohei probably because of his age (the same thing happened with NCT and Hansol)

I also don’t buy that he’s not joining because of health issues. I think he got cut mainly due to his age (even though he doesn’t need to go through enlistment) and I remember they didn’t really welcome him that well compared to the other 2 new members.
Maybe the new bg’s concept/vibe doesn’t fit him too. Also doesn’t help that this group is the main new bg and going to promote in Korea and well, he’s Japanese (SM chose Shotaro over him cuz Shotaro already has a loyal fanbase waiting for him).
