IZ*ONE and (G)I-DLE had different vibes from older groups. IZ*ONE with a bunch of trainees from Produce that also have trainees debut in groups like Everglow, Cherry Bullet, Rocket Punch etc etc. (G)I-DLE as one of the girl groups that actually started writing and producing their songs early on
ITZY aespa felt very different from Twice and Red Velvet. IZ*ONE disbanded and form new groups like IVE and LE SSERAFIM from the same generation of idols.
Like you can't possibly tell me that Wonyoung/Yujin/Chaewon/Sakura is a 3rd gen idol and also a 4th gen idol at the same time
For groups debuting this year, they just feel like a continuation of the current gen. It doesn't feel at least not yet, that they are bringing any special shift in sound, concepts etc etc

out of all groups that debuted in 2018 G idle gives 3rd gen the most ( Lion especially some of their early songs) latata could have been released by any 3rd girl group lowkey giving me 2017 bp vibes and izone was group that came from a show but I don't see them as different as IOI in all honestly
No simply because there's no shift happening, for example let's take Newjeans and Aespa concepts i know for a fact no one would go for their type of songs and concept in the 3rd gen, also i don't take survival groups seriously simply because they're temporary, and sometimes they just follow the trends without trying to bring something new to the market,so i don't know how the hell Mnet classified them in 5th gen
izone is not a typical girl group though and you know it and age has nothing to do with generation. Nct dreams are 3rd gen despite being so young
Somi is 2001 liner when she was in IOI and she is still pretty much 3rd gen
Ruka ( 2002 liner) from babymonster hasn't debuted yet and she is likely to be 5th gen
also Minnie and Miyeon are the same age as chaelisa and older than twice maknae line if we go with that logic.

We are only now getting into the 4th gens peak and they decide “welp time for 5th gen”… thankfully kpop fandom as a whole isn’t really on board(?) so idk if mnet/media can really make the whole 5th gen thing stick right now
We are definitely still in 4th gen. I’m not seeing what zb1 or Beamon have that the other 4th gens don’t, they aren’t even a lot younger either
