What are good examples of groups "maturing" their sound without losing their OG audience?
I feel like there arent many examples of this

For me, I'm probably a little biased 😅, but I thought of VIXX and MX as soon as I saw this question. I think because of everything we've been through the friendship is there where they can change/ mature musically and still have a large part of their fanbase.
Monsta X. their sound and concept matured a lot from debut til current era.
Trespass (debut) Rush, Hero - typical boycrush bg targeting teens
All in + Lost guilty beautiful trilogy - less teeny sound and more of a dark concept
shoot out + alligator + fantasia - embraced their manliness and age
After wonho left, with love killa and gambler - their fully matured version targeting adult audience and older fans
The changes were subtle and necessary each year and theyre essentially the same thats why they kept their fandom
Day6
SNSD
With her solos I think she goes back and forth and tries different things
Lmao snsd what
SNSD. Did cute for the first few cbs then kept switching it up every CB. Public and fans listened to them whatever they did, including into their 15tg year
snsd is the only group I can think of
They debuted with the cutest song ever as babies with Chewing Gum
Then they grew into boys who had started having crushes with My First And Last and We Young
Started feeling rebellious as teenagers with Go and We Go Up
Maturity started with Fire Flies (they started seriously confessing their feelings) and Boom (even tho there was a bit of ice cream in there) and continued to Ridin, Hot Sauce...and the rest is history.
I think they've had the best transition from teenagers to young adults among all groups.

Well said. Personally I think its also cause (at least in my opinion and by my experience) a lot of Monbebes were in high school when we found MX, so we kinda grew along with them as their sound changed.
I don't think there is such a thing called maturing their sound
it just the artist being stuck and identify in one concept or sound
by not making a diversity earlier in their discography career
but the group example
SNSD
4Minute
T-ara
Kara
AOA
Apink
Afterschool
Miss A
BP
F(X)
but maybe
main reason is some of them had diversity
in their sound earlier in their career?
