Fans hating on Min Heejin for invalid or valid reasons?

It's valid but I think people are so hyper focused on her that they're ignoring things that happen pretty much everywhere

Say Amy is 14. Amy babysitted Anna's 2 year old Joey. Anna is 38. Amy left her scarf in Anna's house so later when Joey is in daycare Amy will drop by Anna's house to pick it up. Now according to you guys, Amy cannot go to Anna's house because Amy is 14 and Anna is an adult. She needs a chaperone to go with her. Do you understand how wierd that is now? Amy knows Anna, she has an established relationship with her. A 14 year old can visit someone's house. Can the adult offer them alchohol or talk about anything wierd? FUCK NO. That's pedo. But literally just going to their house for work, how is it wierd when they have an established relationship?

The other thing is Lolita. Now I hate that movie, it is disgusting in the same way Pretty Baby is. But the movie was so popular that an aesthetic built off of that movie. A lot of people use Lolita as a muse purely for the aesthetic. Yes it's wierd but humans at some point decided to seperate the controversials from the aesthetic. Example is Lana Del Ray, controversial inspo but it's aesthetic and not actually enforcing the ideals. Melanie Martinez, using Lolita aesthetics as another example.

Now , onto Cookie....nope there is nothing I can say. Cookie was disgusting, no excuses. You did not make a 14 year old sing suggestive lyrics like that. That she can get all the flack for, but the other things are dumb.

Sure the Cookie controversy deserved the drag, etc at one point, but trying to nitpick every move with a "pedo vibe" is sooooooo weird.

I'm not gonna say I'm her biggest fan, but tbh, judging from her interactions with the girls and staff she doesn't seem like the awful witch she was presented as during their debut. Has she done some strange things before newjeans? Yeah. But the girls seem to like her, the parents seem to like her and the staff seem to like her, people that actually know her so who am I to judge? She hasn't done anything that makes me think newjeans are in danger and that's all that really matters to me at the end of the day

I'm generally very permissive, not much shocks me or offends me, in fact i'm the one that usually calls people "snowflakes" for getting offended over so many non issues.

But there were two things that she did that made even someone as non offendable as me side eye her.

First, her Lolita aesthetics in terms of the posters and such. Just the fact that she scoured the world trying to unearth the most hard to find, rando Lolita movies to use as aesthetics definitely seems a bit weird. It wasn't just the famous movie Lolita or the book by Nabokhov, or Brooke Shields' infamous photos or her Blue Lagoon movie. She somehow dug up photos or artwork of random European movies nobody has heard about with middle aged men and 15 year olds, that's what raised my eyebrows.

Secondly, the way she responded to folks upset about Cookie lyrics by gaslighting them into thinking they were pervs for interpreting the lyrics exactly the way they were supposed to be interpreted. Cookies was never ever about CDs and baked goods lol cmon now.

ETA: all that being said, as long as she doesnt use her power to force the girls to do shit they're uncomfortable doing, i wont be sending any hate her way.

whether or not you think the hate is valid (wild thing to type out), fact is everything ADOR have put out after Cookie's controversy has been age-appropriate, and the girls are being paid, taken out for dinners and appreciated for their hard work. In return, the girls have little handpicked gifts for MHJ, and the staff at ADOR are being gifted xmas treats as well. There's a vibe of care and sisterhood radiating out from the company rn. They might never acknowledge publicly that they learned from their mistakes, but their actions have been quite clear.

This is what hurts me the most about how fans act, they find one thing they hate about a person, and then use it to justify everything else they hate about them.

Case in point Jimin from Aoa. She had one bad scene in Queendom, and then people used that to solidify everything else that she was accused of.

Imagine if you made one mistake, and people kept throwing that on your face over and over again.

(I'm not saying that the Min Heejin case is comparable to this but just mentioning that unkind mob mentality).
