I have no idea what people hate about him. Some years ago I even thought he was actually really liked, especially as he used to host a TV show with Hani. Also yall remember the video where he cut his hair and Hani was like "OMG!" as she saw him.
There also used to be a lot possitive coments towards SUPER JUNIOR on the old forum, especially since there were a lot fans and people even constantly brought up content of how their own faves would love SUPER JUNIOR (example there exist a video where someone filmed Hoshi on a concert dancing to SUPER JUNIOR's songs in the audience while everyone else seemed to not be as entusiastic than him)
At that time the only hate I ever noticed towards SUPER JUNIOR and their member was how people made fun of Shindong for just being overweight and that he apparently said he likes women who are not as big as him, wich made people go on a rampage like "How can he like slim women when he is a fat idiot!" and than nobody ever said anything till that time Heechul dated Momo and everyone than randomly was against them.

I think it was primarily the dating thing because many fans felt uncomfortable with the age gap.
I also think the old GG stans liked him because he was friends with the members and people found it heartwarming.

I don’t know about him but I think Suju has said some questionable borderline sexist shit and his behavior was seriously weird. I think it’s rather a joke that people thought he was gay than the real reason why people are hating on him. As someone who has liked Suju in the past, I understand why people dislike them. They are creepy except a few members

The new generation seems to be really sensitive to age gaps and his relationship with Momo seems to have rubbed them wrong. He also has a blunt/teasing personality which I think some take issue with, especially around dynamics involving female and male relations.
He seems perfectly fine to me. And seems on good terms with and has a lot of friendships with many idols, both female and male. If they had a problem with him they don't seem to show it.
As for the age gap? I don't see the issue. Momo was an adult. I think people are infantalizing Momo. But I'm from a different generation. My parents have a 10 year age gap so I think it's fine. I get people's concern but I think they take it too extreme and deny adults agency.
