Wouldve been unfair for the rest of Kpop. Imagine having Miyeon as a main vocal and main visual, plus her S Tier fanservice, adding her to a group with no visual holes and all that talent. Just unfair for literally everyone else.

We're not sure it was Jisoo vs Miyeon. Miyeon's position is also similar to Rosé's. And all of them were part of the debut-lineup. BP could have been 5 members originally.
BP also debuted two years before Gidle so we don't know what Miyeon's dance or vocal skills were like back then. Maybe she wasn't that good at the time but improved during the two years preparing for Gidle's debut.
