if none of the members resign than 99% time there will be a official disband if one or two members dont than usually they eventually just stop promoting the group and eventually leave.

yg is not giving up the blackpink brand... if one of the members dont renew i doubt they will still do group activities.

contract renewal has NEVER been the most important issue. The key issue is whether ANY member are sick of group activities and want to get out / go solo.

Examples

- Sistar where one / some of them dont want to continue as group - i bet it was Hyolyn

- for Gfriend, as much as i hate source music for doing that cruel thing to gfriend, it is also obvious some members want to go solo instead, such as yuju and yerin. Otherwise, why dont they join viviz in another company?

Well imagine that Yuju and Yerin were in VIVIZ and had to go to Queendom to promote. His solo career should wait longer, also VIVIZ tries to have his own personality outside of Gfriend and it's not strictly a redebut.

Also a VIVIZ article promoted by his company mentions that Gfriend is temporarily separated which may mean that there is some plan to reunite Gfriend in the future.

For Gfriend its hard to tell but it was most likely timing. BPM was founded in July 2021, Yerin had signed with her company in June, Yuju and sowon signed in august. Meanwhile BPM were still in the midst of being set up and from the timings, didn't start looking for people until September and didn't sign thier first person until the end of September (Soyou and it was almost a month since her initial contract ran out). Viviz only signed with BPM in October, they might have had the idea, but making it reality is very hard for idols, they can either make thier own company (and with insane schedules and some in the industry dropping out before graduating going into business is a major risk which they have no skills in) or sign to another company (few companies will bother with because they can just make and squeeze their own groups and the more members they sign the more resources they have to expend to make them all happy, which is an issue with the least popular members and key point, the group doesn't own thier music or name, that belongs to the old company so they would need to have a new concept, sound etc and basically make them a new group but give them senior group contracts and privileges).

The only groups I can think of who have ever managed to move is Shinhwa and Block B and both happened almost 10 years ago. Block B were very early into their careers (I think like 2 yrs) and got out due to mistreatment (thats saying it lightly), and Shinhwa were basically one of the top groups in the industry if not THE top group with hugely popular members like Eric who was so popular SM tried to renew with hugely lenient conditions for him.

Then you have Highlight who made their own company.

Also yes, it was hyolyn, girl wanted to go solo and told her members during discussions. They had a deal that if 1 wanted out the group would end.

Hoseok can hard carry whole creative process by himself from scratch while company has literally ONE job of promotion and distribution yet this is the Hoseok's promotion right now

And I agree with you, they can perfectly continue as a group anyway (in case they will want to continue as a group, of course).

In fact the official statement of Source Music does not mention dissolution, only that all the members left the company, then the press was in charge of deducing the dissolution, there is also in Sowon's letter a word that can be assumed as this is the end of gfriend.

The issue of Gfriend is that the trademark and the music, although above all the trademark is still Source Music and they even try to add a new trademark, then the music seems that VIVIZ solved it somehow.

It changed early last year, so they have a right to it all now, but its very hard and complicated to get it all transferred over. Got7 were very lucky and even mentioned how much JYP and JYPE helped them in the process. They started the process pretty much since they left JYP and it only finished just before they dropped their CB. They are the first to ever go through this process and get their music.

And that was with a VERY cooperative agency, can you imagine with an agency who is more vengeful?
