Majority of official visual members are into acting and usually don't go for solo singer/idol career, mostly because they arent the best singer/dancers in the group i guess...
Can you think of any visuals who've gone solo and do well? And can you think of anyone with potential to do great if they decide to go solo? The only one I can think of right now is Winter for example

I guess it depends on what level of success you mean. The ones that I can see getting big like a Taeyeon, Hwasa, Chungha, Hyuna type level.
Karina, Winter, Sullyoon, Wonyoung (just need to give her the right concept), Kazuha & Xiaoting (maybe not in Korea).
I feel like those girls have the individual popularity to pull it off.

i see, to me it did seem like majority of visuals try to get into acting more than singing/idol career but its just a few i could think of too..

from past generations: suzy did great when she released music under jype. she doesn't sing that much anymore but she's one of the best examples of a visual who can release hits. till now all her OSTs do well.
Jiyeon was T-ara visual and her debut did well, but there are a lot of factors that made it hard for her singing career
the ones who have great potential if they go solo: jisoo (bp in general always do great but idk if she has interest on being a singer), winter (it's obvious why), wonyoung (same as jisoo, she's popular so she will do great but i'm not sure if she will want to pursue a solo singer career) and i'm not sure if heejin is loona's official visual but she has great potential since she's an ace, popular with fans and can appeal to the gp too with the right song.
i don't know much about male idols but I think the ones who could be successful at least sales-wise are jaehyun/taeyong (both are nct visuals, have big fandoms and have showed interest in music, taeyong more with his self-produced stations and soundcloud but jaehyun also wrote his latest solo)
If you're talking about 4th gen (since you only mentioned Winter who I think is Aespa), I can see a lot of the visuals having very successful solo careers. We already have miyeon who went solo and while I wouldn't say shes the next taeyeon, didnt she sell 100k on hanteo? So shes successful.
I can see sullyoon having a successful career (but I doubt jyp will let that happen soon). I'm not sure about Yuna from Itzy but I had doubts about Somi too and she's my favorite soloist right now. I think the visual in Everglow is Yiren and I think she could sustain a very successful career in China but I doubt in Korea. And I'm not too familiar with the other 4th gen gg.
i think ppl expected more from miyeon's solo since it came after tomboy and she's one of the most popular members, but iirc it didn't chart on melon and didn't make much noise anywhere. her sales are good tho but that's normal in 2022.
