Because the 3rd gen top groups were so dominat that when the Big 4 agencies started to debut new groups they didn’t stand a chance against the old ones. So fans started to argue that it made no sense to compare them. That they were too different and that a generation shift had happened.
Though if you actually asked people in 2018 the vast majority would have told you that 4th gen hadn’t started yet. It wasn’t until 2019 that people started agreeing on the generation switch.

I think it’s best if you create a poll and pick the time when most users are available

It’s a tie between Groove and Exodus. The other four aren’t close

“Original members” probably means long-time Bighit employees. With BTS not having a lot of group activities planned for the next few years the agency might be reconstructed to accommodate the members individual schedules better. The old employees might not be happy with the changes and decided to leave.
Pretty sure this has happened before when a main artist of an agency disbands or goes on hiatus. The employees who worked exclusively with said idol end up leaving. The job they used to do isn’t needed anymore and the agency isn’t offering them a good enough new position for them to stay.

They had the most promotion and predebut content ever, not hype. A pretty important distinction.
Think there were multiple factors. First, their predebut era was too dragged out. Heejin’s solo dropped in October 2016 but they didn’t debut until August 2018. That’s almost two years, basically forever in Kpop standards. Plus, unless I’m remembering wrong, they ended up pushing back solo releases and debuts over and over again. The debut era was supposed to last 1 year, not close to 2.
Second, their debut was lacklustre. 2018 was the year when girl crush concepts took over. Everyone was beyond bored with cute concepts, lots of people full on hated them, so when Loona debuted with Hi High! they pretty much lost all interest from non-fans.
Lastly, after their long predebut promotion and underperforming debut their agency was broke. They needed Loona to blow up at debut and they hadn’t. After that Loona only had like one comeback per year, making it basically impossible for them to build any hype. Blackpink can be gone for a year and comeback bigger, a mid-tier group from a nugu agency can’t.
