Class:y really felt the impact of "not stanning minors". Many even don't give a chance to listen to their songs.
Sigh.
Yes, Classy is a great example. When My Teenage Girl was announced so many were calling the show problematic or even creepy and lots of typical survival show viewers decided to actively avoid watching it because of the contestants' ages (me included). Even after debut many refuse to check out their songs.
The issue was never specifically about Newjeans or an excuse to hate on them like some fans act. Other groups/agencies faced the same criticism. Newjeans just happened to be where it peaked. A group from big agency with a lot of people anticipating their debut, all members were minors, Hyein is the youngest idol to ever debut in a Big4 group and Min Heejin has previous controversies with giving minors inappropriate concepts. It blew up, it reached it's peak (for now).
People were shocked when Newjeans members were revealed. That shock has now dissipated. Baby Monster's members are crazy young but top agencies debuting young groups aren't news anymore.
