Does twice really needs melon rn? With this touring
-
-
They don't need charting since 2017 when they started touring
But I find amusing the change of tunning every GG fandom goes through when their favorite girlgroups start to bomb on korean charts and survive from album sales and touring because this is the reality of almost every Boygroup, but somehow they are "flops" because of their charting . The double standards...
twice doesn’t even that flop on melon they still charting so no double standards there my friend

Long live melon! Not my fave but still a good fruit.
People seem to like it.
wait is melon itself an actual fruit???
as oppose to watermelon or rockmelon or whatever?
-
-
Melon is a type of fruit, that usually has some sort of further clarification to it.
Korean Melon:
Honeydew Melon:
Etc:

that's what I thought...that melon itself wasn't a fruit per se but rather a type of fruit...

When twice were being digimons to the point where they were referred to as chart devouring beasts alongside bts in kdramas hoes called them local gg.

I think people need to take a step back and understand the consequences of bad charting on melon. Charting high on k charts represent popularity with the GPs and many companies/brands out there are basing on this to choose ambassadors and CF deals. This is especially important for newer / rising groups cause brands will then start to engage them for deals and hence bring in $$
But with Twice, situation is different. They are a SENIOR group. Most smaller brands wouldnt be able to afford them, and bigger brands if want them, would have already gotten them in first place. And with Twice getting more fans from other regions especially the west, it really doesnt matter much anymore. They gradually lose the koreans but earns elsewhere.
Having said so, Twice's decline in domestic is undeniable. Anyone who said otherwise is delusion but at this juncture of their career, they are well established and still make $$, just that they are losing relevancy and attention with the koreans. What onces should worry is whether JYP will start neglecting Twice and focus on newer groups as JYP had this bad record. In my honest opinion, Twice is nothing other than cash cows to JYP to fund newer groups at this point. Shouldnt be very happy for high grossing from tours but rather - where are the solos from the members? (I hope rumor about Nayeon solo debut is real)

In denial hum? Just entering and staying in the bottom with their fandom streaming is exactly how any big Boygroup (NCT, Seventeen, etc) use to chart
The peak for their last title track in Gaon weekly was 32. It was a worse peak than Stray Kid's Maniac. Never thought that could happenEdit: This was a mistake, I was looking for Stray Kids peak on downloads chart, which Twice peaked at 4, and Stray Kids 6. Ignore this

You are wrong tho, cuz Korean onces don't use melon since the whole sajaegi fiasco. Still Twice's lowest lows are higher than most of bg highest peaks. :)

As long as fans are happy and satisfied and TWICE members themselves are happy, who cares about how they do on Melon and other Korean charts.
TWICE are in their 7th year now and have achieved enough, my guess is they have other priorities as a group and individually, if they didn't already have other priorities before than caring about some Korean charts as Melon or Gaon.
-
Twice don't need Melon but really, not doing well on Melon means more than just that.
Twice don't do well in South Korea anymore as they have no pull with the newer generation of Korean's for various reasons (and also lost out on male listeners which was always one of their strengths, appealing to both genders) and really in their current iteration they have nothing different to offer them versus what new 4th gen groups and older ones like BP do who they've already taken a liking to.
The way they were established puts limitations on them that other groups don't have. I just hope the choice to mainly focus on the US and put minimal emphasis on SK isn't built on establishing a brand there to launch the new US gg whilst they still can, but rather with a long term plan in place for the group.

No, they should be very happy for their record breaking touring numbers. Since they get a much larger share of those returns.

Jype will position Stray Kids more in the US. It's obvious how happy they were with the group's achievement.
But the US pivot is good for Twice. It is another avenue to earn for the group. I think it's also for Twice PR and mediaplay. JYPE is tweeting about their achievements and that will create discussions. Positive or negative it will still mention Twice and hopefully haters and likers will listen to their comeback.
If Nayeon have a solo and they gave her a proper promotion and put her in varieties I think it will help Twice in Korea. I really like for one of them to go to I live alone. I feel like Twice pleasant personalities will fit the show.
-
At the end of the day, it's just about money right?
Charts, streams, CFs, concerts, etc are just means to an end.
We already know Twice is raking in that money, everything else is secondary

They might want Stray kids at the front of the US push now but that isn't going to bring fans over to their new gg, like Twice did in Japan with Nizi. Twice fans spread over to Itzy, Nizi and now NMIXX but based on what I've seen Twice fans didn't spread to Stray Kids at all really. It might have given them additional attention in Japan for example but fandom wise girl group to girl group is much more effective.
Media play does next to nothing for Twice as a group but I can imagine it does what it needs to for current and potential shareholders, especially to sell the viability and potential of their US girl group.

I notice that companies tend to favor boy groups more. Reading the company reports posted in Twitter, I don't even think jype expect a lot from Twice. Twice overperforms in the US but they are enticing the shareholders with SK's potential performance.
Media play brings in eyes to the group. Haters tend to give a group visibility. Since they are more rabid at posting things than the actual fans. I'm really optimistic that this recent mediaplay of success can get Twice a successful comeback. If only jype would let Twice actually promote in variety shows. Let the GP see their faces again.
