Soyeon is great and they consistently make good music.
I really don’t think Soojin’s controversy affects how the public perceives them. If anything, Soojin is surely missed and many would love to have her back.
Remember, they were a top group in 4th-gen discussions and they moved with so much momentum until the unfortunate scandal.

and they are still young group, and it's not like they've gained those fans recently... their number of folowers on Melon rather stayed on same lvl during that long hiatus, also it's nearly identical to IZ*ONE followers number on Melon which also 'stopped' to rise nearly in same time. (for those who don't remember Idle released Hwaa in january, and not long after IZ*ONE released d-d-dance special single). As we know IZ*ONE ain't active anymore, so technically speaking (G)I-DLE has most followers from all 'younger' groups on the market.

After queendom they started to chart better. Hwaa peaked high but served no longevity (tbh the song doesn’t have replay value) so I think that’s why it free felt quickly the scandal was just a bonus. And it’s not like soojin is here anymore so Korean don’t care
But we shouldn’t judge the charting on its first day

no fandom will get them in top 10 melon even with how melon changed unless they have some BTS or maybe NCT fandom (i have to see how Dream chart this comeback) otherwise you'll see more boy groups in top 10, Twice's last comeback didn't got into top 10 melon and i can assure that they have a bigger korean fandom than Gidle
