Why do you think IZ*ONE failed to be as popular as IVE internationally?

They have me as their international presence, I'm enough everyone else is irrelevant
icy what about mee

That’s still doesn’t change the fact IVE are stomping Izone internationally move on

Too soon

It’s about the concept
*cue “always has been” meme*
Girl groups that show too much femininity will never beat out those that go for that “strong” or “tough” image nowadays with the international crowd bc god forbid women embrace their femininity and vulnerability since it’s perceived to mean they’re weak and helpless lol, which is a load of bull but i digress
-
Izone were very big in Japan and china tho, that's international
and a hit debut doesn't mean anything in the long run, we have to wait a bit more to see if they can surpass izone international popularity
+ Everglow was never it lol they had the YouTube mv :iews yet everything else was mediocre. Not even tiktok or twitter numbers surpassed izone, all their YouTube content and fancams are much lower too.
-
Izone aren’t a permanent group so I guess a lot of people didn’t want them to support them. They have a lot of members. And the type of concept aren’t really aiming to the international market I guess.
But IVE only two songs so it’s too soon but I think they have a chance to maintain the international stats.
-
-
it's only one song for ive but izone had to compete against peak of twice, blackpink and red velvet
True. You could make the argument that Ive is competing against an empty house. In Izone's first year, they were facing literally the biggest acts in Kpop history in their prime, BTS's biggest song ever BWL, D4, WIL and DTNA, even downtrodden bands like Winner and Ikon were huge back then, hell even Bigbang was still charting #1 with Flower Road.
Ive is competing against musty trottists and nugu rappers from SMTM and unreleased IU B-sides. Literally the girls of SM are their only competition.

Everglow have great stats on Spotify tho youtube contents have nothing to with this international stats because at the end only fans watch it.

Glad you acknowledged BTS power.
-
No? I stated in my OP that most of their album sales are from Korea & Japan. Why are you acting like JPN is some nugu country lmao
And seeing how both Wonyoung & Sakura have the biggest 4th gen China bars I'd say a fair share of them came from there too. My question is...why weren't they able to properly break out of East Asia

Everglow did really well in Spotify especially in 2020. Both DUN DUN and LADIDA have more streams than 2020 IZ*ONE tracks.
-
Oh please not the empty house excuses first OP talks about international stats. And lets not act 2018 wasn’t the peak of idol groups now most idol groups are struggling.
BTS are still killing it tho. IU and Beo released their projects and eleven still stable, step back is smashing.
BTS has no songs in the top 30, and their last release is like 50 now. And who in heaven's name is Beo?

Everglow literally stomp on IZ*ONE on Spotify + you can't run ads for streaming

we're talking about internationally why are you bringing up SMTM and trot artists
Even then ELEVEN is still bigger than any IZ*ONE song, both internationally & in Korea you can bring up all the excuses but the numbers dont lie
-
As an international person lol, I can list few reasons:
1) IZONE has too many members and had girly girl concept. Very kpop.
2) IVE’s music is also easier to the ears to non kpop fans. But they only have 2 songs so we have to see their next comeback.
3) IVE’s members are just charismatic and memorable, each are distinct. Tbh I never knew of Wonyoung and Yujin when they were Izone members because they all look similar/similar vibe.

music is better and they have less members
-
2018 was pre-pandemic. Kpop as a whole has changed a lot since the pandemic
Also, the word you are searching for is west, not international
no bc ive are nobodies in the west, just like 99% of kpop.
