Sales wise: twice (even I admit twice numbers are up there with the likes of BTS and exo)
International impact: blackpink (there international fans are crazy big)
South Korean impact: 1st generation: S.E.S=Fin.K.L, 2nd generation: snsd=2ne1. 3rd generation: Twice = Blackpink = Red velvet.
Japanese impact: Kara (Kara dominated Japan like no other kpop girl group before or after them when I say there names where everywere, I mean everywhere they where listed in top 10 most popular artist in Japan for 3/4 year in a row).
It all just depends on how you look at it, it's kind of a split awnser with GGs cause the generations and diffrent global impact of Korean GGs in diffrent parts of ther world, while there's one boy group that rules the scene at any given time. There have been multiple diffrent girl groups over diffrent generations that have been at the top, for example S.E.S's competition and basically opposite was Fin.K.L, Girls Generation competition and opposite was 2ne1. Twices opposite is blackpink, and there opposite is red velvet (at least in korea with this last one) there has never been 1 ruleing girl group because there is enough space for all girl groups to take off espically with the Korean public perfering girl groups over boy groups. So my final answer goes as above.
It is going to be difficult to compare success across generations by any means.
In raw form of success it is Blackpink/Twice because their stats look better coming from 3rd gen
Even impact is hard to measure because each defined their own generation, you can see it now the switch in number of ggs doing the gc concept and the decrease in ggs doing bubbly/cute concepts because of Blackpink's domination now

K-pop existed there a lot it's when international stats are brought in It gets harder because lots of numbers
not really music platforms has been changing its systems a lot how can we compare charting performances? How can we compare album sales of different times? And level of competition has been changed since then. Ofc groups like S.E.S and Finkl were the pioneer kpop ggs so people were so curious about the new wave of artists so they had it easier to gain public attention and barely there is competition.

It could be the gg with the highest peak or the one will consistent popularity throughout the gens.

the right question to be asked is what are the determinates or the factors or the criteria that detemine what a successful GG is...and furthermore what are the weights given to those factors...
that is the question to be asked...since once those factors are determined it changes the ultimate question from a subjective one to an objetive one
BP in SK is nowhere near where SNSD was at their peak
They are bc they have Jennie and jisoo. Specially Jennie
even rosé has a better solo career trayectory than any SNSD member but ty and yn, all SNSD members but them did terrible digital wise in korea
Ses did better digitally but if I remember reading well finkl has better digitals so idk why people assume they were the absolute gg at that time. They had lee hyori too
In South Korea. Definitly it GG. They got called as South Korea National Treasure a lots by international article. They contributed a lots in S.Korea economy just like BTS. During the London Olympics, the group was featured in a series of informative pamphlets about the korean culture. The other icons were hangul, hanshik (korean food), hanbok, hanji (korean handmade paper) and hanok (traditional korean houses). Got their face in their country stamp. What they did is not just IMPACT but A CULTURE. Their peak during their active year is like how BTS nowadays(it might sound ridiculous to new kpop fans but it is what it is).
Some people underestimate blackpink's success in Korea.
Blackpink is extremely successful as a group in SK.
Solo was massive and jennie gets massive cfs and is everywhere in sk. Rosé solo did decently on the chart. Two members with good enough charting. They have individual success which most groups lack. Let's see if snowdrop becomes a success too and that's 3 members with success in Korea. Remember the title says successful. Group + solo success blackpink has the best balance imo. So mentioning them has a merit.
