It's because it's early and almost nobody made their name yet. By the end of 4th gen people will have forgotten most of them.

Kpop market is bigger, streaming is the primary method of music consumption currently and the role of Social Media (virality) shouldn't be underestimated. The pandemic has also been a big catalyst for Kpop too.

I don't know if they are stronger but they have more visibility (Rollin' being one of the biggest song in SoKor this year while it was released more than 3 years ago is an evidence of that) than the previous generations due to the points I mentioned previously.

You can't really compare them, it's like comparing YouTube (or Spotify streams) views currently to views of the previous generations it just won't be accurate because of how different the industry is/was.

I'll say though, more companies might be willing to invest in groups since the market size has grown and the possibility of carving out a niche (dreamcatcher? ) or sizable fandom is higher so that can also be another reason you get to see groups from smaller companies getting more comebacks this year and as someone mentioned the 4th Gen top groups haven't been solidified yet so everyone is scrambling before the big companies come in.

this. I don't think most of these groups will make it really big. I wouldn't be suprised if none of them will make it really big but we'll see

Maybe they’re more memorable because they’re currently active but you’ll probably forget who they are when 5th gen happens in several years time

im surprised op never heard of them but i can recommend you brave girls, momoland and laboum.

4th gen non big3 groups still didnt achived a boom boom or rollin, well maybe a journey to atlantis.

4th gen > 2nd gen > 3rd gen

For 3rd Gen below the Big 3 + Mamamoo/Oh My Girl, there are groups like WJSN, Dreamcatcher who are doing pretty well. Momoland they seem to died but they are still alive. CLC, well is CLC. And there's Lovelyz who just disbanded. If we count Brave Girls as 3rd Gen (since their current lineup is 3rd gen), then nothing captures the public more than them.

For 4th Gen, below the Big 3 + IZ*ONE, StayC, we have Weeekly, (G)I-DLE, Everglow, Purple Kiss, LIGHTSUM. Honestly the other groups are still....pretty nugu.

Still, nothing compared to 2nd Gen. Big 3 itself already have SNSD/Wonder Girls/2NE1/miss A/f(x). We still have Sistar, Kara. Below them we still have Apink/EXID/4Minute/Girls Day/BEG. All these groups are actually well known, compared to the 4th Gen now.

Then again 4th Gen just started, so we will have to see. I'm sure it will be stronger when we have upcoming groups like Kep1er which might actually come sooner than we think.

And we have our post IZ*ONE members paving the way with HYBE NGG with Sakura and Chaewon, and Starship NGG with Wonyoung/Yujin coming soon. Not to mention Chaeyeon

yeah but they could probably go toe to toe with itzy if it wasn't for the scandal. with soojin gone and no comeback for a while, i feel like a lot of the momentum from Hwaa is gone and their next cbs wont do as well. I really hope im wrong tho

Seriosly people, groups debuting 2018 like (G)I-dle is not "4th generation", they belong as much to the 3rd generation as to the 4th.

Overall, I think a lot of the new groups 2020-2021 have been a bit of a disappointment, few really good song. Tri.be was disappointment for me, had hopes for them, but meh...... Sure, they can improve and come up with better songs and Would you run was acctually something that was good enough to at to my youtube list......
STACY, I liked the detbut with So Bad, but after that, not so much.

But having say that, I think I must agree that the 3rd generation is a bit weak if you don't count the big three (Twice, Black Pink and Red Velvet). The 2nd genenartion and borderline 2nd/3rd generation had many more groups that was able to do more than just one good song. I mean Sistar, T-ara, Apink, AOA, Girls' Day and more. Add to that "big" groups from the big companies like Girl's Genaration, Wonder Girls, Miss A, 2NE1, Kara (well, was one of the big companies), f(x). I mean.... you can't even compare the 3rd generation to that.

true. I'm pretty sure that in a few years g-idle isn't going to be a girlgroup you'll think about when someone talks about 4th gen. Same with izone. I like them but I'd call them a late 3rd gen group. They debuted only 2 years after blackpink and literally disbanded when 3rd gen groups were still leading by a lot...

yeah, other than bp 3rd gen ggs are irrelevant. 4th gen gg are bigger than 4th gen bg so they are better
