All groups use ads except BP and Bts
The issue is not buying ads. The issue is the organic views which means only 19 million are organic all the other views comes from ads.
SM is spending too much money on ads to get music show wins and that's the issue. They are buying Aespa the trophies. But if you look at the recent prediction of net profit. That's not good. SM is getting less money in return of all the promotions they spend on Aespa.

I love how the other people have a difference and only aespa has ad views. Ads are having purpose. Your bad economic take in your post is literally making it so obvious that you dislike aespa. Ads are for customer acquisition and brand visibility. Aespa is quite new and needs to be promoted. Yes, they are new but SM is literally losing money on this promotion. Also is it important to win music shows just to pay so much money on ads.

Their target audience are obviously not K-Pop fans who are already invested into another group. Youtube is much easier and one can achieve better brand visibility on demand directly to the target audience. Whereas music show have nowadays a limited visibility in SK and are on decline.

I would say it's just marketing but the key is to have healthy ratio of it probably somewhere between 15 to max 40% being views from ads...
remember that Momoland situation when it was revealed that they've got 95% views from ads lol 
and also about 11 seconds, 30 seconds etc...
the thing is usually ad will close or be able to close after 5 seconds, so if for example you eat or drink, or reading an text on phone then you might not click skip button right away and with this you are contributing as a 'viewer'

If SM care about music show, then they should have sent them to M-countdown last week, and will be winning the trophy today. They did not even care to attend music show first week. They only sending aespa to 2 music shows on second week, and that's it.
I also think it's funny that you're so concerned about sm buying music show wins for aespa. NL still getting nominated because their great digitals with 0 physical. They just not go that frequently to music shows, what about it? Youtube is in fact a social media that kpop heavily relies on. Why should they promote now their Instagram?
Also, their is an effect which could be seen in the charts, views and album sales. Followers is not the only kpi one can use to determine the success of certain measures. Also, kpop fans are literally so inpatient. Measurements afford time until one can see their success.

Ads are very expensive. That's why most companies only did a for 2 to 3 days. Aespa having ads since the music video was released.
Do you also know that the artists have to pay for the production cost and promotions? That's is the reason why having CFs, concerts are so important to artists.
