if aespa are already officially known by gp as the next level gg why tf would they bother with ngg title?
-
-
they will be IGGG (inter-galaxy gg)
Kosmo-Kwangya and beyond
-
You know to reach that level, you need more public recognition right? SNSD didn’t just reach that title because of Gee, they have member who have hit tv drama, member who have mega hits song, cfs and everything. Aespa just make their first comeback. Let just wait more comeback or how the girls solo activities do.
-
I think they are and Next Level has shown and proved that. For me, they're the best new girl group that's come along in a long time especially for SM and the longer they've been established, the bigger and better they're going to get imo.

Because SNSD's popularity in 2009 tracends beyond Gee charting
Also, some of you really look at the song charting and goes, yep this song is bigger than XXX when the former exists in a whole different era. Gee was the most broadcasted song in South Korea in 2000-2010 and was chosen as Melon Song of The Decade when it was released in 2009.
In 2008, Taeyeon had her mega hit OST 'If' that is until today one of the most popular OST of all-time. Yoona has her mega hit leading role drama with 41% rating in average. Soshi had impressive individuality in their rookie years that boosts the group popularity
Also, SNSD has 2 consecutive hits that charted at #1 and #2 simulateonously in Gallup Korea in 2009, also them charting at #1 on Gallup that year. Genie Music Core special stage was watched by 8.6M viewers real-time.
Also, the most important point is SNSD was given the NGG title in 2010, when they charted at #1 again on Gallup Korea and Oh! and Hoot simulateonously chart at #1 and #2 of the same year. The album Oh! won Disk Daesang the same year. They were #1 on all age group survey in Gallup that makes them being called the Nation's Girl Group
Do not reduce their overall popularity to Gee when they are practically the biggest SK act at that time they are given the title eating top boy groups and seniors alive.
I believe Aespa will get to that level when SM starts to push Karina and Winter I guess, individually and them having top-selling album which I don't doubt they will. LOL having a top song doesn't immediately makes you known nationwide, let alone being the Nation's Girl Group

Their songs aren't anything like SNSD when they started out.

Doesn't it go like this?
2007-08-03: Into the New World [Debut]
2007-11-01: Girls' Generation [Comeback #1]
2008-01-13: Kissing You [Comeback #2]
2008-03-17: Baby Baby [Comeback #3]
2009-01-05: Gee [Comeback #4]
yeah but i don't really count girl's generation and baby baby as real comeback
considering that Baby baby, girl's generation and kissing you were part of the same album

Is Forever considered an Aespa comeback?
I also wonder if Black Mamba, Forever, and Next Level are going to be on their first album.

Nah they didn't promote it much besides the special stages and few radio shows I think most MYs consider it a special track to keep us fed until we waited for the real deal (Next Level)

forever isn't a cb
it wasn't even promoted as a cb, no promotion on tv show, no variety show apparition etc.. to promote the song

That makes sense. I hope we get their album soon.
I love Black Mamba, and Next Level is okay for me. So I'm excited for what they have in the future.

it's like people said
they ain't NGG
because they already are NLGG
-
Then baby baby?
-
-
Snsd first comeback was Girls Generation, second comeback Kissing U and third comeback Gee
-
-
-
-
because Next level made them the front runner to be consider NGG
but they need another successfull song to cement this position
just like SNSD needed genie
and Twice needed TT
-
They're doing super well but comparing their charting to a 12 year old song doesn't make much sense since the charts are so different.
Gee was the most download girl group song of its decade (both in Korea and internationally) and was number 1 on all annual and decade polls/charts and so was snsd.
The ngg title is given by the media so they're not there yet but at the same time idk how dated that title is at this point. Aespa is doing very well atm so we'll just have to wait and see what their future holds.
-
This comparison makes no sense, especially because it doesn't account for the cultural impact SNSD had. I like Next Level, but it's still a sample from a FF soundtrack. Aespa is still not there in terms of relevance. Maybe in ten years it will be a different story, but till then Gee Gee Gee.
-
Because they're not
SNSD got their NGG title not just because of Gee
-
wow the number of guests and members here
Only scandals threads get this attention. What's going on?
-
-
-
-
I wonder what your excuse next if they got another hit in the next comeback
-
then why brave girls aren't considered ngg?
one hit song doesn't make a girl group a national girl group it takes way more than that
if that was the case many girl group would be considered ngg
