Itzy had huge success at their debut, but then their concepts became too repetitive until Mafia. They still have a big fandom as a Big 3. They just aren't at their peak of public interest as before. Also Aespa's rise doesn't seem that organic imo. As I theorized before, SM might have been giving them an extra hand with youtube ads and paying for a streaming farm to get them higher up on the charts.

If the Korean public was really hyped about Next Level there would be a flood of vocal and dance covers in Korea like how it was for Red Flavor or Latata. The only real hype I'm noticing is just coming from stans talking about hype, not from regular Korean taken organic interest in it, which you can tell from social media of regular Korean people (who aren't kpop or SM fans).

Music-wise, Itzy's good. They will need to step up when it comes to reciting their rap verses and singing across all the group members.
Aespa doesn't have an album or any real catalog songs out yet, so the only thing to possibly compare is potential. If SME takes care of the details properly, they can create a music niche for the group that other agencies are going to want to copy. They will need to partner up better with their western producers.

For YouTube, you might have an argument if aespa other videos have low views. Look at aespa youtube channel for recent comeback. They have the highest view per video relative to all groups. Yes, that includes all the all groups from recent come back. Look at their studio choom video, it's almost at 8 mil now. It's the fastest to reach that number for most recent comeback. It's going to be the most view when said and done. People should stop viewing paying for mv ad as a negative. It's great way to advertise your songs. Sure if you big enough, then you don't need it. Blackpink used to have ads, but not when they got big.
Look at blackpink channel now. It's the biggest kpop channel and it's their own not even their company's channel.
