So, this is their latest comeback as you all know, and so I thought I wanna share my insights on what the MV means.
I think a lot of people might be confused over what happened in the MV, like did the guy die? Was he actually bleeding? This is my take on what the MV is about.
So let's go over a few important scenes in the MV so that we can make sense of it afterwards
Guy is seemingly hurt and bleeding. He sees the girl and hide his bleeding so that she won't see it
They go on a car trip
But eventually the guy got tired due to his injury and stopped at a petrol station. He faints and the girl try to wake him up. Take note that this scene is very important.
Followed by a scene of footprints. Only 1 pair of footprints
The guy wakes up and the girl is still by his side
He shows the girl his wounds
The song continues, and they hold hands walking towards the ocean together
Now that we get the important scenes out of the way, here is my interpretation of the MV
- The Guy represents Day6. The Girl represent us MyDays. The first scene where it shows the guy bleeding, is a metaphor of the hardship and pain that Day6 went through. As we all know, 2020 has been a hard year for Day6. Sungjin and Jae has to take hiatus from work because of mental anxiety issues days before their 2020 Zombie comeback.
- The Guy sees the Girl and hide his wounds. This means that Day6 tries to hide their troubles and pains from us MyDays because they don't want us to worry
- After the car ride, the Guy faints. This scene represents Day6 hiatus. Because of the pains and hardship they felt, they had no choice but to stop and take a hiatus from group promotions.
- Take note the scene of the Girl waking the Guy up, it has a very dark undertone to it. This also represents us MyDays being worried for Day6
- The scene whereby the Guy imagines a single set of footprints towards the ocean, is him thinking that he has to walk through the pain alone. This is like how Day6 thinks that they have to do this alone, and undergo the hardship alone
- The Guy wakes up and sees the Girl waiting for him. Take note that this exact similar scene, has a tint of orange to it. This to me is the most important scene of the entire MV. What this scene means that when the Guy imagines himself walking this journey alone, the Girl is still there waiting for him. This means that no matter what Day6 had to go through, whatever hardship they underwent, MyDays will always be there waiting for them and supporting them, and that Day6 will not need to go through this alone. The orange tint from the lights also represent a change in the mood, whereby there is hope.
- This next scene is also very important. The Guy shows the Girl his wounds. This means that Day6 finally let MyDays see the hardship and pains they went through. They choose not to hide from us anymore, and is because they know that we MyDays will be there to hold their hand and walk through this journey together
- Ending scene of the Guy and Girl holding hands walking towards the ocean is like Day6 and MyDays, going forward on this journey together, where the sea sleeps (tribute to their sub-unit MV)
I mean this is my interpretation of it and of course there are various interpretations of this MV. For me this is one of my favourite MVs ever by Day because of the underlying meaning (or at least from the way I interpret it) of the MV
