I find it hard not to separate everything I’ve ever known about him being a proper pillock from his music... and I am yet to hear a song that has convinced me to forget that.

But he’s a good singer, undeniably, and he’s been hugely popular for years so I guess maybe they just focus on that and it’s usually catchy, fairly uncomplicated pop.

Whatever makes them happy! *shrug*

I could definitely live without any rumoured collabs though, personally.

Pillock...seems accurate for describing him.

I used to hate him when he started, I didn’t see what the fuss was about but he recent years he did have some good songs. There are better artists and it there but I would say him and Jason Derulo is the closest to kpop when they sing and dance. Maybe that’s why they like him that much. (The fact that half of the kpop bg-s are miles better then him is another story)

I think as someone said, they don't keep up with the drama and only like/know his songs. People don't understand that idols get busy and start training from an early age so even if they do know all the artists and have their fun times, they don't spend as much time on the interest as we do, by knowing every drama and detail on every one. IMO that's why they are clueless on many new talked-about-controversies like CA.

Personally, I never liked JB and never understood why he is likable. The only song by him that I like is Love yourself (only for the melody, because the attempt diss at certain someone in lyrics made the song annoying to listen to).

Also, I remember seeing a video of him singing a very racist song and laughing. It's not comparable to K-pop idols saying the n-word or doing CA without knowing the history behind it. But singing a very clear racist song as if he is mocking black people. I am not black but that video was triggering even for me. Yet his career is still doing well. Sure he was young at that time and I despise canceling culture especially for those who apologized. but those who make past mistakes, apologize yet then don't show humility whatsoever later are just unbearable to watch for me.

The song (can be triggering.. not many know about this even some of his hardcore fans so I doubt idols do know about it and what it means)

Meh, Michale Jackson music is still the bomb for older generations, even if he may have molested some kids, I bet all the CEO's of kpop companies love MJ.
