Every CEO of HYBE’s labels except Min Heejin has no experience in the entertainment industry

According to HYBE’s business report, the CEOs of Big Hit Music, Pledis Entertainment, Source Music, Belift Lab and KOZ Entertainment all had no experience working in the entertainment industry before joining HYBE

ADOR CEO Min Heejin is the only person from SM Entertainment

    1. I’m not surprised

    2. Gamers, please leave HYBE

    3. The lineup is amazing. There are a lot of them from the game industry, so I guess they know nothing about music and album

    4. But even after going through that incident, HYBE still couldn’t wake up

    5. Don’t tarnish K-pop….

    6. The people who destroyed the Korean gaming industry were recruited by HYBE

    7. But it seems right if you look at how they handled it after the controversy broke out

    8. This is why they can’t understand idols well

    9. Seriously, they should all leave HYBE

    10. Idols are human, not games… They don’t seem to even consider this

  • makes sense. often times people new to a creative endeavors (writing, music, art, etc.) start out copying "the greats" or their peers before they are able to hone their own artistic style and begin creating unique works. Min Hee Jin stands out against the rest of Hybe because she has already undergone the "finding onseself" period of her career long ago and is able to leave her handprint on everything she touches

    🍒 Chee~eer~ish 🍒

  • i am not sure what this actually means anything. Their groups are still going well, album sales are up and better than many kpop group, stream is alright, tour is great, money was spent effectively, artists going places, …..

not sure if the directors doing badly or damage hybe.

  • Hold up. I thought the whole reason why Hybe bought Source was to save BangPD's BFF who was the CEO of Source from having to close down the company since Gfriend wasnt doing good enough to keep the lights on.

Now this article is implying that the Source CEO is someone else?

    Very confusing.

Source Music CEO used to work for SM and then JYP before he founded his label. Him and BSH formed Glam together in 2012 as a collaboration between Source Music and BigHit

  • Is that supposed to be drag? Especially now that NJ are starting to flop?

MHJ should have been an art director at best. All her decisions are silly (I mean the shaman’s decisions) and she seems unable to make a group grow (are they getting too old for her?). She’s just a malicious unstable woman good at pinterest. Keep her for the photoshoots. SM were right about her, she should not have been a CEO.

isnt mhj the one with a rep being a perv abd asking minor creepy things? she did it with nj too isnt it? with her lolita concept

  • bec a ceo 's job is not to be creative. they make final executive decision. Logical decision-- definitely not someone who consults shaman. that's why u have creative directors or technical people doing those stuff. its the reason why bang bd step down as ceo . like its the same thing for apple during steve job's reign, he has tim cook doing the executive planning

  • Based on the fact that one CEO with experience has had so far 2 out 3 of his groups disband, and the other with experience is looking to steal the sublabel, it might be better to have CEOs without industry experienced.

And how can you make a logical decision or sound executive decision if you don't have a firm grasp of the fundamentals of the industry your business is founded on? That's not how it works in the real world practically ever.

If a CEO of a financial firm steps down, he's not going to get replaced by a CEO who only has experience in commercial real estate. Typically, the top executives are expected to have some background, or at least some of them. For everyone but MHJ to come from outside the industry is a valid concern and actually explains a lot.

Many CEOs in the west come from a finance background, in that they were a CFO first.

I should've just said this. Look at the responses. The ghosts of the Hybe stans have been summoned from the Megathread graveyard.

did you just intentionally attack MJH ? if the person need to be questioned about over sexualisation, particularly in childhood, MJH is the queen of it.

  • like in an engineering firm, surprisingly, the directors has no experience in engineering world. but they have experienced in working with government and connections, thats how we got the job.

seriously, what the age of these people in this forum, sometimes I feels like they know nothing about how the world out there works rather than their little delusional imagination.

  • But these comments are hilarious. “Don’t tarnish Kpop…” Again MHJ was so real for calling them braindead.

  • Hybe is currently the dominating entertainment company anyway, with their current pool of executives. So what point is this article trying to make?

While their revenue is biggest than other big 3, their profit is not. And remember 70% of their revenue coming from single source, BTS.

And since the CEO has track record failing his previous company, and the way he handled Ador issue, probably shareholders need to start to be worried about the future of this company.

And again, Hybe successful has never been due to hybe good business strategy, it's all work of BTS fandom. They need to find the next BTS if they want to keep promoting their new group.

This is so far from truth and the world doesn't work that way. As person who works in engineering firm, I beg you differ :spammerpepe: . Winning a tender is not the same with running a project and trying to keep cost under budget if you don't know well about what the hell you are running.

5 most profit cpy in the world in 2023 (mostly engineering)and their CEO background

    1. Saudi Aramco : petroleum engineer

    2. Apple : industrial engineer

    3. berkshire : Warren buffet invested since child

    4.microsoft : electrical engineer

    5. alphabet (Google) : metallurgy engineer

And if PJW is really good at connection/business, why Nexon is still failing despite he worked since graduated over there. And don't forget Theranos whom the CEO decided to drop out without finishing her chemical engineering degree (not even pass a year in college) and only use her connection skills in government to build business in medicine field (she didn't even know how blood analysis technology works).

Also,MHJ :pepe-mommy: is known for keep the production cost low while giving high profit cost ratio. le Serra and NJ has the same debut budget, but Ador gave more revenue than source despite both received the same privilege as "under Hybe groups". Illit beat NJ EP debut sales by 20K copies higher, but that's with Illit debut budget 10x NJ budget. NJ debut EP also still higher than TWS despite BG normally has bigger kpop market.

So yes,I still do believe whatever your job is, you need to have competency of your industry if you want to make profit. Or you can rely on the face of your idols.

Sooman begged her to stay, offered her a ceo position and cried when she left, gtfo X(.

  • How did Hybe become the industry leaders, if that's the case?

    :meme-wait-what:

MHJ is the reason since 2021 for current events. We wouldn't have the scandal in 2024, if MHJ didn't try to run away with Ador, one of the Hybe labels.

    :meme-what:

I suppose so. Still, it became a huge 6 trillion won empire. Without competent people working, it isn't realistic.

    :pepe-notes::pepe-use-head:

  • thanks for your input.

i was trying to give an extreme example where the directors do not require much technical skill into the type of company they worked for rather than just experience, knowledge and connection into the industry . Ceos/ directors of many engineering firm do not need to be background as an engineer, it is still relevant in today world.

Also, entertainment industry is a huge term. it range from producer, creator, director, financer, online platform, social media, marketing,….And of course these people from Hybe does have their background, experience and knowledge in one of these things. here is the more information of all key people in hybe and its sub label, it seems to be ok for me

Who are the key players at Hybe in the post-Bang Si-hyuk era?
On July 2, K-pop juggernaut Hybe announced it was reshuffling the company’s topmost personnel in an effort to vitalize its global operations. Most notably,…
    www.koreaherald.com

Ceo of pledis is producer, Bang Pd is producer.

park ji won is ceo of gaming part of the hybe business,

ceo of belab is kim tae ho, is a marketing , in charge of Weverse and digital flatform. as far as weverse keep successful and fan keep engaging, it is already a big win for hybe.

no idea who is ceo of koz.

so I dont see the term “No experience in entertainment industry” justify at all.

  • I think it's ZICO cuz he's the own who founded the label and then it got buy by HYBE

Not anymore, Hybe has fired the koz's previous higher ups and replace them with hybe's own men

    :pepe-notes::pepe-use-head:

It became that huge relying on BTS to attract talent, but that doesn't mean they have competent people or listen to them. Don't forget Jimin's apartment got seized because Hybe didn't open his mail or remember to pay his tax. Armies can probably name countless examples of issues in the past couple years of incompetence, and thats with your biggest act which you'd surround with the best people.

Hybe has also used dynamic pricing, hugely inflated ticket and merch prices with no increase (and even a decrease) in quality trying to make more money fast.

When your a public company your worth is dependent on the public perception of your profitability. They went public in 2020 and since then the BTS members have been dropping solos and tours and Hybe has been pushing PR for itself non stop, including flaunting Hybe America despite the steady decline in areas like weverse which many attribute to BTS's enlistment. Their net profit dropped 87.5% YoY, weverse users fell wiping out a years increase and average revenue per paying user has been declining but showed a steep decline this time around. All this is AFTER SM idols joined too, so the numbers must have been far worse.

It shows two things, one Hybe is still heavily reliant on BTS and two, they thought platforms like weverse would make up for BTS's enlistment and potentially leaving but it isn't growing independently of them as Hybe needs it to, hence dramatic increase in prices of everything.

  • I think it's pretty obvious that BANG just chose people with no competence in entertainment company so they are dependant of him before taking a decision so he can manipulate them easily

It's something that is often do in big company

It's probably why MHJ was the only one not able to stood up for herself

It may not be 100% his choice. The other major SH is a game company, it makes sense they'd trade supporting him for having people they know in the industry in charge of key companies. Since they know nothing, he can also make sure they come to him for everything.

  • While their revenue is biggest than other big 3, their profit is not. And remember 70% of their revenue coming from single source, BTS.

Using BTS here as a point is stupid. When they alone could outsell the whole industry since 2019. If BTS was under any other label outside Hybe, they will still be contributing that percentage to total profits. They are an anomaly as an act and IP brand

Hybe is just fortunate to have BTS as a group
