I'd say their biggest legacy was to revive the Hallyu Wave in Japan's Market, something they've done that has been recognized both my korean and japanese media.
Like, you just had to be there. But back in 2017-2018, there were several reports about how TWICE was leading the third Hallyu Wave in Japan after the 2nd took over in 2010-2012 with TVXQ, SNSD and KARA leading, who also came after the 1st wave took over in 2002-2003 when korean dramas and BoA started to be recognized in the market.
For a couple of years (from 2013-4 to 2017) K-pop's hype died down in terms of public's recognition and the groups were just using the market as a cash grab in terms of touring for a small niche, until TT was an absolute national phenomenon.

Their immense stronghold in Japan. After TVXQ only Twice have done Nissan. That shit is insane.
They will be remembered for many years to come and will have a long career.
I don’t think they did anything interesting musically or conceptually to influence their Juniors or newer groups but their legacy is very solid and they’re a force to reckon with.
I don’t think you need to be influential stylistically to have a legacy.
I think JYP in general doesn’t have an influential musical identity they tend to follow trends more than set them.
-
Too be honest I don't think they will leave such a big impact, don't know why but they keep a bit low profile if you compare to a group like BP. I mean, yes the are a very successful group with maybe one of the best discographies of all time, beating BP for sure, but still.... They are one of my favorite groups last couple of years, but I will not feel that sad when they disband, I will not have any problems to move on from them.
-
Twice has the best overall discography ever. The other group has the best numbers. I like music more than numbers.

7 legit viral hits. Almost was going to type 8 lololol.
Paved the way so that its easier for 4th and 5th gen groups to grow globally.

Well, the key word here is "one of my favorites", and by that I mean like one of maybe 10 groups or so.....
I felt a bit sad when groups like T-ara, 2NE1, SISTAR and Crayon Pop disbanded or in T-aras case more or less stoped being active as a group. Both with Twice and also with Blackpink I feel more like they have done their thing and I don't have the same attachment to them as I maybe had for some of the 2nd gen groups. Sure I will miss both Twice and BP a bit when they are gone, but I see no problem with Babymonster taking over after Blackpink.

Being the best girlgroup of the fucking world for all eternity.

lmao this article comes straight from other times... "the fans decided to reward the group for their hard work and helped them get from 99th to the 9th position on Melon"

Some of you are obviously very "What have you done for me lately?" Completely ignoring Twice's period of utter dominance in Korea just because they aren't there anymore, at a point where their generation has mostly faded away already (while they're still here.) They don't have anything left to prove, they've already been to the mountain top and will be remembered for it, in both Korea & Japan, to say nothing of their continued, nearly unreplicated touring ability elsewhere.
-
Affecting the 2016 Taiwanese political election even if slightly. Reintroducing Kpop into Japan. Being the first girl group to tour in stadium across multiple continents. Have many consecutive hits. One of the best discographies in Kpop. Bridging the gap between Kpop popularity being localized in Asia to it becoming international trend. Began the trend of girl groups selling huge amounts again.

If you stan a group with a japanese member you are obligated to pray every morning giving thanks to twice for allowing them to be a thing on kpop
also reviving the hallyu wave on japan + proving you can become successful on the US market without girl crush concept to the point of surpassing blackpink on a market they have all kind of advantages

You could just... you know, look it up. But yes, Twice had the best-selling girl group album in the US.
*in before Blinks respond with "But BP's album was more expensive!", as if they don't usually tout YG's insane price-gouging like it's a good thing*
It's hard to say what exactly lead to their success in the west, since they had already started to break out of their bubblegum pop shell by the time they started touring and charting in the west, but just the fact that they were able to tweak their original concept slowly over time without having to resort to full-on "girl crush," as Koreans call it, to appeal to a different demographic is admirable.
SNSD is a group that experimented with other concepts, but always came right back to the bubblegum pop to a point where it just became cringe. Even their reunion song wasn't very age-appropriate.

They were the biggest digimons in Korea for 3rd gen. Seven Melon #1s on the weekly chart (BTS only had four, BP only three) back when it was a LOT harder to chart with the two biggest digimons in Korea ever still actively releasing songs (Bigbang and IU) and plenty of other GP faves fighting them tooth and nail.
Musically, they defined cutesy the same way BP defined girl crush and NJ is defining whatever style they're categorized as. WIL is the greatest cutesy title song ever made, Scientist and Heartshaker are also way up there. TT, Likey, DTNA, and WIL will still be played and remembered a decade from now. Just like Dyna, D4, Bang Bang Bang, etc.

To correct that user's attempt at misinformation: Here are the most recent BP numbers using a non-biased source.

Since Ready to Be hasn't hit this milestone yet, Chartdata hasn't made a tweet about it. So, I'm using a Twice-biased source. The dates of the two tweets aren't far off.External Content twitter.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. As you can see, the first week does not paint the whole picture accurately. -
NJ is defining whatever style they're categorized as
Act right, NJHouse. You know damn well NewJeans already have a signature sound and aesthetic and have had an immediate, transformative impact on the industry because of it.
I concede the point about the album sales from randalthor, but I don't know if I can get behind Twice being Digimons beyond BP.
It's similar to the difference in digital achievement between SNSD and 2NE1 from the 2nd generation, even though SNSD was undeniably the biggest girl group of their era.
