Why would she want. She would actually need to work as an idol constantly and share the income. This way she makes tons of money just by being an influencer and occasionally when she feels like it, she can promote.

Let's be honest. Somi left JYPE in 2018? At that time, HYBE was not where they are now. HYBE did not even exist until 2021. They were still Big Hit, and BTS were the only artist they had since TXT hadn't even debuted yet. YG was also having one hell of a year with BP and D4, Winner, AKMU, Big Bang had just released one of the biggest songs of the year, and IKON's Love Scenario was still doing a victory lap as song of the year.

Even if Big Hit had made Somi an offer then, chances are she still would have chosen the Black Label because of Teddy and the association with YG.

Maybe if things with HYBE and YG had been what they are now in 2018, maybe Somi would have chosen a different route. But, you can't compare the KPOP climate and companies now to what they were in 2018. Things are so different than they were 5 years. And who knows, Somi might not even renew. Her contract end date is coming up, and she could mosey along to HYBE. But, yeah, I don't see why she would. She's doing great where she is.

In 2018 BH wasn't even a shareholder of anything. They had 1 group, which was BTS. Acquisition spree started two years later with the Pledis buyout

Bighit didn't really have the infrastructure for a female soloist (or any new soloist, not one from BTS) in 2018, nor does their business model align with Somi.

It's like going 'why doesn't Teddy write for SM'. Just fundamental differences.

But why are you asking Hybe? Currently they have 2 of the hottest GGs from 4th gen. The better question is why JYP did not debut her in Itzy? And why JYP did not pull all the stops to hold on to Somi.. Because currently JYP is losing it out in the GG competition.. Its a good thing for once their BG is doing really well.

She's doing really well as a solo artist, a few hits, tons of CFs, variety shows, and she doesn't have to adjust her schedule around group work. Why would she want to debut in a group?
