I read that 2 female singers were booked for drug. Both had famous husband. One of them was ex-idol. Their drug cases did not relate to GD's case though.

It's the timing more than anything that I find suspicious. Plus the fact that YG hadn't actually confirmed on their end that GD had fully left until now, unless I'm mistaken.
Usually you'd expect this kind of "letting the door hit them on the way out" behavior from SM more than any other company, but GD was YG's golden egg, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's some resentment over him leaving
