Anyone else notice NewJeans starting to get more hate here?

not really. they seem generally liked. i think it's ive that's the punching bag. their last cb song didn't help

At least It's not as hateful as people can be to Blackpink, thankfully. It's mostly just Dives vs tokkis, vs MYs on whose the biggest/best 4th gen girl group. I think people 'hate' IVE more on here than New Jeans.

All groups get hate here. When I was first here 5 years ago it was all Twice vs BP. Now it is NJ, IVE, LS. It's normal and per course.

It's just certain users of certain fandoms more often than not. Pretty much all NewJeans hate comes from a place of insecurity over how quickly they ascended into global stardom essentially overnight.

The "don't support them because they're minors" ploy didn't work, so then it moved to "their music is boring and they're ruining K-Pop"

It's honestly entertaining to me. Because the saltiness of their haters is proportionally correlated to their success.

There are definitely people on here who are not fond of Newjeans on here, but that applies for K-pop groups in general. If there are people who hate Newjeans it's because they are successful, and became successful fast which itself is a reason for haters to see them as a threat to their favorites. As someone said on this thread earlier, almost every k-pop group gets some extent of hate from anti's.

justifying all of this by that saying all the other groups get lots of hate brings me so little comfort

it kinda just describes a very sad state of affairs when hate is the default environment fans have to deal with. everyone needs to be a lot less online in kpop (I know this is impossible)

im backing this up with the fact that every kpop event I’ve ever been to has had the loveliest IRL people. it’s a twitter-brain problem

They have tried it with every NewJeans release.

There were enough legitimate concerns surrounding Cookie so that haters could use the controversy as subterfuge to validate their fake concern for NewJeans. They really called for everyone to boycott NewJeans to protect NewJeans from the evil Min Heejin.

But fair enough with that one.

But with OMG, though it gained zero traction, they tried to make a controversy over the MV, claiming it was using mental health as a concept and problematic.

And then it culminated with the ETA terrorism fiasco, because "it just can't be a coincidence!!!" is a good reason to accuse MHJ of using terrorism to promote her girl group.

I can't wait to see what the next attempted controversy will be, since it's always the prelude to new records for NewJeans

people making threads to set them up is mostly the prompt of it

I think both fans of a groups tend over react to negativity towards a group and make it all into "hate", while people who dislike elements of a group (usually the music) sometimes have a tendency to go over the top and actually become hateful.

I've seen NewJeans and it's members get some legitimately hateful comments, usually from the mentally disturbed types that mouthbreathe and stink up kpop circles. The type of disgusting inanity that is best left ignored so they suffocate with no attention, but people can't look away and feel the need to engage and "protect:, thus boosting the hatefulness.

But all to often in kpop circles I also see people start branding any kind of criticism towards not just a group as a whole but too elements there of (eg music style, choreo etc) as "hate" towards the group. Sometimes because the person screaming hate can't see the nuance, othertimes because they dont WANT to see the nuance because making their faves the victim of "hate" seems to play into a narrative they want, because perversely they kind of want to see hate, because they view hate as a measure of success.

And yeah the more popular/big something gets, the more "hate" it gets, thats kind of natural. Because that thing has more eyes on it. More eyes means a bigger diversity of eyes as well. It's harder to ignore something thats big and popular. If you dislike or even hate a smaller, nugu group you can easily ignore them, because hell, most people are anyway. But when a group is EVERYWHERE it becomes something you can't look away from, and some people start resenting that.

Or more simply, and to circle back to what I was saying earlier, more people start seeing them and offering their opinions. "Oh, this group? Nah I don't like their music at all", which fans over react to and go "OMFG LOOK AT THE HATE".

I've said it before, I really do not like New Jeans music, to the point of loathing some of their songs. Most of their songs from their most recent Album I listened to once and left alone. It's not my musical style, and it never has been. Even pre kpop I never liked the softer, chiller, wishy washy styles of music. Never liked Ed Sheerhan, Jon Legend (all of me sends me into a rage), earlier Taylor Swift music . New Jeans sits in that same kind of space for me.

So yeah I dislike the music and yeah I do worry, with how trend driven kpop can be, that a lot of 4th gen and 5th gen will try and copy a "proven" formula and churn out similar, dull (in my eyes) stuff.

But I don't HATE New Jeans as a group. The girls are all lovely and I have to give mad support to the two Aussies. Their aesthetic (while kind of forced and terribly inaccurate in terms of y2k retro) is cute and while I really don't care the music I can also definitely see why it really, really works for some people.

But because I don't like the music and will sometimes say so, people will make that into "Look at New Jeans getting more hate!". Again... because they can't see the nuance or they don't want to see.

And now I wait for the usual spineless, gutless, no avatar weirdoes to hit me with reactions but be too chicken shit to actually reply.

I think the hate they get is bellow average for the biggest girlgroup

I think NJ is a very much loved and well liked group. They remember me of EXO, a group only fans of rivals used to hate

Most of shady posts come just a few fans of some groups who hate them, or actually just hate the fact NJ are outselling their faves

I feel like no not really at all. NJs almost get no hate compared to other popular groups. Not saying it doesn’t happen at all, but all popular groups get some hate. But NJs is pretty well loved by many people. And that’s a good thing
