Blackpink is the only thing keeping YG in the Big 3 and JYP has been on its way out for a while. Neither company is creating generation-defining groups anymore(though BabyMonster may change that for YG.) Meanwhile, HYBE has BTS, NewJeans, Le sserafim, and TXT for groups leading their generation internationally and domestically. Starship has a history of creating successful girl groups and IVE is the biggest girl group of the 4th gen along with NewJeans. I think if BabyMonster flops and if JYP doesn't get its act together both will get replaced by HYBE which is already huge and Starship which is a fast-rising company.
After Blackpink leave YG, Starship and HYBE will replace YG and JYP in the Big 3

Starship and Cube have created girl groups of similar success before(Sistar and 4minute has similar success trajectories and so did CLC and WJSN). But this is the first time a Starship girl group has pulled ahead of a Cube girl group which I think some consider Starship the bigger company at the moment.
-
Yeah but it's still fun to speculate
-
Hummm Starship its a weird case bc cravity that is only one year older than Ive have almost nonexistent hype. We can tell how great starship future will be only if the next group that debut after ive do well on similar level be in sales or charts. I do think they will have much stronger hype than cravity, but im not sure if thats enough, they cant depend on ive forever.
-
The thing about Starship groups is that all of them do well on a level they can have a certain future unlike a lot of other groups from smaller companies. However Starship could only become a bigger and more respected company if they have another act like Ive which would be a extremely difficult task - mx and wjsn are established and although their popularity dont decrease, it doesnt increase at rapid pace either. And Cravity although doing ok are the least popular act in Starship. The main thing about big4 groups is that they always have at least more than one artist selling millions or charting well.

starship have only IVE, one group isn't enough
JYP still have Twice selling out their tour
and itzy and nmixx doing decently good
it's enough to keep them in the biig 3
This
Similar to yg that only have bp as a big act but still have treasure that sell millions and babymonster that have bigger hype than all current 4th gen combined
Starship needs more than just 1 powerful act to be part of big companies, unless ive grow so big like bts, which is quite an impossible task

Yeah, I agree. YG and JYPE are definitely lagging behind right now, but Starship would still need at least one or two more groups on the same scale as IVE before people would start putting them on the same level. Having two top groups at the same time is the way to do that.
Honestly, all YG needs is for Baemon to be a hit. JYPE, they need a overhaul in their marketing and A&R, which I don't see happening.

a reminder that recently there was news that Kakao might sell Starship
Kakao plans to sell ownership stake in Starship Entertainment to raise funds for AI research and developmentKakao Corp is reportedly preparing to offload its ownership stake in Starship Entertainment.According to media reports, Kakao is gearing up to inc…www.allkpop.comtherefore we can have situation where suddenly some different agency will acquire those shares and what then?
I'm not talking about HYBE here but for example some other agency could get some additional investor on board or even do a merge
or some company outside of kpop world can buy Starship
also you can't count JYP out when Stray Kids are breaking their sales and that NMIXX is already selling more than 1M, ITZY is alive, and TWICE is doing world tours and still have reasonable sales in SK+JPN, and also Jihyo sold more than 500k in first week, and MiSaMo apparently had higher sales than NiziU on Oricon in 1st week
I've already talked about it usually in cases like this the expansion happens
like in sports you have like big3, big4, and then suddenly big6 because other teams grow, their gain success, establish themselves for few seasons in that top 6 and here we are...
so through the time we got BIG4 after HYBE expansion, and overtaking everyone else, now some other companies might actually join, and then some 1-2 will decline due to stupid decisions, or flopping groups
a reminder as well that group floping on music charts doesn't really affect company that much when sales are high, at the end of the day what's most imporant is album sales + touring, that gives money

Kakao thinking about selling Starship!? What!?
I wonder why? Isn't that their most successful music label outside of Edam?

big 3/4 isnt even about top groups rn, its about who managed the groups that paved the way for kpop in korea and internationally
jyp - 2pm, twice, stray kids, wonder girls
i can name like @@@0b6d258a-dad0-49bb-bada-b19a711d4048@@@ cube group and 2 starship groups that are remotely popular, while all these artists paved the way for kpops success
