The first baby step towards consolidation in Kpop that must happen. The US market is dominated by the Big 3, Sony, Warner and UMG. There is no reason why this wont happen in Kpop which is a much smaller market.

SM will end up owning our lives lol Kakao is the biggest company next to Samsung. Literally Kakao runs the world here. That time when they had a fire in the server room that knocked out Kakao. It literally ground the country to a halt as everything from texting cellphone data, internet, banking services credit/debit card processing etc all went down. This action thus further increased the tension and management disputes between the company and the largest shareholder, Lee Soo Man.
It is clearly a violation of commercial law and the articles associated with the law for SM Entertainment’s board of directors, which is led by the co-CEOs, to issue new shares and convertible bonds to third parties at a time when there is such a dispute within the company.
SM Entertainment’s board of directors unilaterally distributed new shares and convertible bonds to the third party (Kakao) in order to expand their reach and make things more favorable to them as they attempted to secure a competitive edge in controlling the direction of the company. As the legal firm of the largest shareholder, we will block SM Entertainment’s board of directors’ attempts at this through an injunction, banning the issuance of new shares and convertible bonds and we will hold the directors responsible for this both civilly and criminally liable.

no but Kakao is so shady ngl
it feels like they couldn't buy SM's shares with LSM in power so they are trying to use backdoor/illegal methods to acquire them. LSM is not so innocent either with his private company taking 1/3 of SM profits.

Almost all the relevant small and mid tier labels will be subsumed under one of these new Big 3 conglomerates.
If CJENM decides to exit Kpop, then i could see JYP rushing to join SM and Kakao to form a Big 2 vs Hybe, YG and Naver.
ETA: this would be the lineup of warring factions in a Big 2 battle...
