I said this here once and I am saying this again, Somi and Itzy should've stayed together, it is an L/L situation for both currently

  • I can't seem to find my thread buy I basically said this year ago and I get proven correct again and again :pepe-notes:

Last time yall said both are doing fine, well sorry, the receipts disagree :pepe-peaking: You were wrong. Neither is doing good enough. Itzy needs Somi, Somi needs Itzy, it is clear as day.

I know Somi frequently checks out social media so I hope she sees this somehow. Somi, girlie, we love you but you've failed yourself and Itzy with your Teddy noise obsession. Find a time machine and fix the situation :spammerpepe:

  • Wonder how somi would feel about releasing and performing a song like sneakers? :pepe-cringe: She’d escape teddy’s clutch but would it really be for the better, especially under a company as incompetent as jyp? I feel like her it girl potential would’ve been squandered flat like yuna’s was, so idk how the girl would feel about that

  • this post hinges solely on the fact that you think somi wanted to be a musician. somi getting as close to black pink as posisble, who she's said more than once are a group she looks up to, tells me a lot about the career she wants for herself. being an idol is not as glamorous as people looking from the outside in often believe. somi had first hand experience in sixteen and in produce 101 and subsequently ioi, and even in sister's slam dunk. no one wants to be stuck as an idol long term. they want to act and become variety show hosts and models for luxury brands. and i take it somi wanted that too and found a way to get earlier than some do. somi's parents obviously always wanted her to be famous. she's been on tv since her age was in single digits. and she succeeded at just that. being famous. i wholly believe her departure from jype was because she wanted more solo activities than they were willing to put on the table for her, especially judging by the state of solo activities for other jype groups. somi didn't want to wait 7 years for a solo like nayeon had to. i think somi got exactly what she wanted.

as for itzy, despite what fans say about how somi would have overshadowed them, i think its true they needed someone to be the "face". yeji and ryujin actually both had potential to be huge. they are both the type of faces female fans like, much like yunjin from lesserafim. and yuna was popular for her looks too. but jype refuses to capitalize on the individual strengths of the members and lets their hype wither away. itzy didn't need somi per se. they needed jype to promote them as individuals and make them stars.

  • Sure, her solo career is not going wonders, but she's still making more money while not being overworked like she would if she had stayed with JYP.

Besides, YG is a bigger company with more resources. I doubt she would be able to get all those high-brand CFS and endorsements with JYP.

  • Itzy just posted their highest first week on HANTEO with 633,248 Album Sales, their current world tour will not be their last so the group is doing brilliant.

As for Somi, she's basically unemployed as a Singer

Edited once, last by jimeous ().

  • Somi clearly wants to be a celebrity more than she wants to be a musician, I mean aren't Blackpink her role models? there's no way she wanted to release music a lot. Right now she's known for her CFs and hosting stuff, her music is more an add-on. The only thing she's really missing out on is the touring money, bc there's no way she can fill those venues but I think she's doing well for herself.

Same for Itzy, they're doing fine. Their music isn't for everyone and never has been, so digitals were always a bit iffy, but they've got a steady fanbase and their tours are making $$$.

  • It worked out best for both parties. As someone said above, i think Somi took one look at how Twice was being put through the meat grinder under JYPE and literally NOPED out of there the second Teddy made the offer. Under TBL, Somi pretty much controls her work schedule, she isn't forced to do comebacks obviously, if she wants to sit down and write songs, Teddy will help her, but she wont be forced.

Now she's literally living the best life, i read that she has a super high ROI as a commercial endorser which makes her a valuable commodity in the advertising industry. She's making 6 figures every year and working 1/1000th of the hours that poor Twice, Itzy and most other Kpop groups have to put in.

Itzy also doing just fine, they have a top 5 digital hit this year and are gonna have TWO million selling albums this year. That's 25 million in gross revenue just in album sales for this year, they're each gonna get a nice mid 6 figure chunk out of those sales unless JYP screwed them over with a slave contract.

  • Somi is rich, famous, controls her own schedule, and if she wants to join a group she can join TBLNGG without losing any solo brand deals.

Itzy is selling millions of albums.

    I don't see the L/L situation here.

  • I don’t think so. I wasn’t a fan of Somi at first but as a soloist she’s not bad. I also don’t feel like itzy would be better with her. All positions are already filled

That is why Somi fits in black pink more than Twice or Itzy.

  • Lmao at the whole "Somi didn't wanted to make music", just cause groups that comebacks 4 times a year are overworked as the jyp puppets that they are doesn't mean that "they wanted to make music", it just means that they are in an slave contract.

An artist releasing music once or twice a year is the casual norm, them releasing every month is simply them trying to hit it big or being an slave.
