Things that annoy you from the KPOP world

  • :policepepe:

    Some of mine are:

    - The way idols can't act natural themselves or with other idols most of the time in fear of getting bashed for the most stupid thing

    - Obsession for visuals: small head, white skin, tiny wrists, straight nose...and all that nonsense

    - Random high pitched high notes for the sake of having high notes in songs, or random fast-paced words for the sake of having a rap in a song

    - Taeyeon not selling nearly as much as these newly debuted groups when her albums are guaranteed quality.

There are more, but Imma let you all tell me some and let's see if I share the sentiment with you :pepe-notes:

  • FANWARS

sometimes they are fun, some other times are way too much! people can get really nasty and vicious without reason :toxicpepe:

  • - acting as if 30-year-old idols are "too old for Kpop" but then saying that minors shouldn't debut. So idols should train that much but they can be active for only ten years ? Are trained and experienced performers this disposable for you?

    - Saying a solo act or group is singing live when they are clearly lip-syincing over pre-recorded vocals, because there is no way a person is jumping arround for about three minutes and yet we can't hear any kind of breathing, there are no problems with the mic and the vocals sound as clear as the ocean.

    - This has more to do with the community but those "dark side of kpop" videos only create sensationalism: every industry is shady, esepecially the entrateinment industries - but using idols that have passed away for specifc reasons who have mostly nothing to do with Kpop is just disgusting, and also spreads false informations on those same 3 people just to create a narrative about the "dark side of kpop".

    I have more

  • I dont understand why fandoms are so touchy sometimes when it comes to mentioning their faves. How many times have we heard the phrase "keep ****** out of your mouths" or "stop bringing ***** into this discussion".

Like, breathe a little, just because someone mentioned your faves in a Kpop comparison or analysis, there's no reason to go all agro. It's literally human nature to compare things, to draw associations, to highlight differences and similarities between groups or idols.

    • People who make smaller groups down
    • People who act proud of only stanning big groups
    • People who call other artists trash/noisy just cause they don't like their music
    • Girlgroup stans getting uslessly offended that boygroup stans exist
    • People who hate you if you critizise a song they like
    • Kids who take every word you say wrong and than acuse you as hater of a certain artist
    • When you like different styles of music and get hate for that you like more than just KPop (example "Ew how can you like EXO and Justin Bieber?")
    • When you defend an idol who gets hate for no reason and than everyone attacks you for what you do
    • When someone defends an idol that was proofen as guilty for something very bad (example I once saw a girl on AKP who still suports Seungri and dosn't understands how everyone else hates him for what he did)
    • When a company can't menage to give at least 2 comebacks a year to a group and maybe even sends them on a way too long hiatus for no reason till in the worst case the group leaves or disbands and the company dosn't posts a proper statement on their own failure
    • The entire idea of the dept-system in KPop. In all jobs people get payed as soon they start to work but in KPop the companies keep the idols like slaves who often arn't even properly payed and that shouldn't exist ! A company who thinks they should take all income from an idol and can't provide proper care for their artist should not have idols at all or just lesser idols who arn't forced to give all their hard earned money away
    • That nice CEOs arn't apreciated enough. An example for a nice CEO would be Kim Hyeim from Beat Interactive who did all she could and more even tho she was broke, even gave the boys pocketmoney as they were trainees and felt sorry when she couldn't buy food for the boys but everyone in the company loves her like a mom and is gratefull to be in her company, even if the first few years were quit hard

    A.C.E | ATEEZ | DRIPPIN| MCND | NU'EST | ONF | SF9 | Stray Kids | TFN

  • People that lose their shit for things like this.

But that is perhaps not specific to kpop, just what happens due to social media.

  • - Rose tinted glasses when talking about earlier generations

    - People who think there is a universal "Kpop sound" and that songs are better/worse based on how similar they are to that specific sound

    - RnB being seen only as b-side/filler material

    - The compulsion for high notes in every single TT (it's not a bad thing in itself, but it's not a negative to not have these big notes)

    - How replaceable idols are in the eyes of their companies

    - The male gaze catering in gg music (much less than before, thankfully). Still not enough female leadership in the industry

    - Losing connection to counterculture (which is quite unique given this is supposed to be a creative scene)

    - The fact that so much lyricism is lost to the language barrier from Kpop's international growth (can't be helped, but still sad to see)

  • - The fact that so much lyricism is lost to the language barrier from Kpop's international growth (can't be helped, but still sad to see)

Yes I get annoyed when I don't understand English translations or they don't make sense, although I'm sure it's not easy to translate the equivalent of a poem into another language

  • -people who assume everything idols did as a child means they can't debut. That every negative interaction such as a falling out or argument means an idol is a bully. People need to really learn what bullying is. Having spats with ex friends is not bullying.

-Mass canceling idols for any mistakes they did growing up and denanding their dreams be ruined instead of allowing idols the chance to prove that they have grown up and matured.

-the absolute horrible ageism usually done by younger fans who thinks 25+ year olds dont have the right to enjoy kpop...what world are ya'll living in?

-the disgusting hate smaller grouos get because they aren't well known and how peole act like they dont deserve a chance to be heard if they aren't from a top company.

    - and THE BIG ONE....

Top Media, AIG and Luk start treating your fucking idols better and give the fans proper updates.
