Well... that was kind of common in my country back in the days because my country is kind of "isolated".
I think that is still legal in my country.
Sometimes people in my country end up actually dating someone that they don't know they are related to.
But I think that I have heard that the child of two cousins can end up inheriting a genetic decease. (or at least more likely than two parents that aren't blood related at all)
Suddenly thinking when I had a crush on a guy who was my 3rd cousin, I think. (I didn't know we were related)

Yeah that's just too close. I know there are places where it's acceptable to marry a cousin, but it's typically several steps out.
Like I grew up in a rural area where a lot of people are related and everyone in high school knew who was their cousin and which side of the family connected them or how many times removed cause no one wanted to be the cousin couple.

Well... my parents are not related at all but still ended up with disabled children and one abled child.
It's a cultural thing. Here in the UK we think it is weird to do so, but in some countries it is seen as normal.

where did you get this info from? from my understanding its max 5-6% chance of genetic disease only 3% higher than normal.

Identical twin: 100%
Sibling: 50% (one parent division)
First cousin: 12.5%, three parent divisions (parents are siblings, 50%, children of that generation, 50%, also because its not the same parents, yet another 50%.)
