It's almost as though if Aespa doesn't do acoustic versions of their set that people will perceive this as a failure.
Maybe they'll do a bluegrass version of Savage - Giselle on an acoustic guitar, Karina on banjo, and of course we'll let Winter and Ningning sing, but Winter also has to play the harmonica.
Unless one of then plays a classical number on a grand piano it's unacceptable to me

if they sing live, there is no option that ningning and winter will be able to sing these notes. it's physically impossible. the scenario that the company will not let them sing live is very likely, otherwise they will have to change the versions of the songs and cut some lines, I don't know, they are terribly in a bad situation. that's why I always say it's good to have one or two songs that are 95% focused on rap because it gives the vocalists a moment to rest in the group and the rappers can shine. sm screwed it up like that.

I mean it won't. Antis already have their narrative locked in that no SM artist (literally not a single one) can actually sing and all of their live vocals are either lip sync, barely audible over a backing track, or completely autotuned. aepsa can sing live in their living room and they'd still say it was lip sync.

TBH I will not group Aespa along with the rest of SM at this point.
I for one can say no one went so long without singing live at SM like Aespa have.

I agree, like not having a single live performance after two rounds of comeback gives non fans a reason to target them.
personally for me it’s not “norm” at SM and pushing that agenda to save Aespa’s image feels like demeaning other SM acts. So I don’t like seeing that type of discussion. “SM always have that image so it doesn’t matter either way” or “SM always forces ALL their artist” is directly insulting to the rest of the acts Kek.

As long as we dont hold Kpop acts to a higher standard than all the "A list" locals here. Can anyone point me to any A list local this year that has sung live with parts as difficult as the bridges of Next Level and Savage? Mumbling into a mic doesnt count.

I would say is more sm post Covid, and well, Aespa debuted in Covid era.

Honestly, I don't think aespa would get roasted if they lip-sync by the local audience because it's not like there weren't hundreds of lip-synced stages in Coachella already. The problem is in the people who are anticipating aespa. Kpop fans, haters, and MYs. They all talked about how important for them to sing Live. It's just stupid to make a lip-synced stage again exactly like the tons of other stages they got backlash for. Give the audience what they want. but I doubt it.... The new SM is making it quite clear that on stage they prioritize choreo and visuals over singing for their groups.

No. Only those who wanted to have so far. E.G Kai was lip sync'd because his focus was his performance element. (power to him) While Suho who just had his cb had multiple live versions because he wants to do it.
IF aespa is not singing live it's by their choice or the choice of their creative director and NOT an SM thing.
As far as i'm concerned nothing changed post and pre covid. Those whom i expected to perform live did so and those that didn't have not.

I think people generalize by saying SM when they refer to the directors just like they compliment SM for a new concept, not the specific creative team. It's true that it's not applied to all SM acts even recently.

Speaking of the stage director, I am not going to assume anything 100% because I really don't know (it could be aespa that is asking to LS for all we know) but I have a big feeling that it's their director's decisions. Everything that felt bland and half-assed with aespa was under him. Even his nickname is "simpleisbest". and he is going to Coachella with them so I expect them to ignore everything and make a replica of MAMA stage (good news there's new music tho).
