God brings back memories. Before BTS, before BigBang and EXO and TVXQ and Seo Taiji, hell even before Backstreet and Nsync, there was this.

Just like how I think BTS are better than NKOTB (for that matter any other group ever), you can think that way. You are your own person. You should have your own thinking. We are not gonna dispute that. They do have some bangers. Legends for a reason.

New Edition paved the way for New Kids on the Block. When New Edition left the producer/manager/Svengali, he specifically set out to make a white version of the group (this is well documented).

Some New Edition classics when they got older:

(slow jam)

And honestly The Jackson 5 paved the way for New Edition and New Kids on the Block way back in the 70s.

I saw the AMA New Edition/NKOTB performance medley.

I respect NKOTB for how they let it be known that New Edition was the protype for the modern boyband. They are both from Boston, Massachusetts too, so it's even more "stand up". NKOTB could have just acted like they were the protype group but that would have brought bad karma.

I looked into US group/boyband history a couple times and found out 1 guy (Lou Pearlman) influenced an era of American boybands with 4 groups (Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, LFO, and O-Town) all inspired by NKOTB's commerical success who was literally built by the same guy (Maurice Starr) who created and produced for a R&B "Teen Pop" group (New Edition) right before, so it's going to hit different.

I genuinely didn’t know them. If it weren’t for the amas today. I am guessing they are a legendary group. They seem nice and respectful so I have a positive impression of them
